Let's Play PretendA Poem by RachaelA poem I wrote super late at night so yeah...
I'm going to close my eyes and play pretend,
Just for a bit. I'd really like it if you'd join me. We'll find a nice place to sit. Close them tightly now,
Just like me. Think of the things in your life, And how you want them to be. I'm going to pretend I live in a castle Just reaching the tops of the clouds.
I'd stay there with you all morning, And at night, we'd join the crowds. I'm going to pretend we've gone to a fair, Just noise and lights and fun.
We could play all of the games, And then we'd win every single one. I'm going to pretend we're laughing, Just happy to be alive. We'd count up all our blessings,
And things that make us smile. I'm going to pretend my blessing will stay, Just as healthy as before. You'll be carefree and young like always, And fear will lurk no more.
I'm going to pretend you're thinking of me too, Just as I so desire. Because my pretending is worthless, I swear, As long as you're here for awhile.
