Still BreathingA Poem by I AMHe was always silent, Never having much to say, But when he heard the news that day, He said as he stood where she lay: Mom wasn't herself, Mom was someone else, Mom wasn't ever here, So for mom, I won’t shed a tear. It brought anger to his father’s eyes, For he had nothing to say, For what the boy said was true, Leaving him with nothing more to do, So he left the boy and flew. Till’ this very day, The boy is left in a world alone, With not a penny to his name, But somehow, He is thankful for where he came. And as cold nights hit hard, He sleeps under a bridge, And a dreams about a better day, Because in a world so cold, He learns to keep hope that way.© 2012 I AM |
