I always wondered what other girls my age were doing. Most 16 year old girls were probably training, or with their boyfriends, or shopping. I bet they don't have to hide most of the time, or hunt for their own food. They also have people to train them. I have myself.

But I bet they never get to run around free, or become experts at hiding. I bet they never get to meet squirrels and deer. Or eat them. I bet they don't get to ride waves or fly on chunks of rock. But at least they have friends that can speak to them, and are able to go on dates. And they don't have to watch people die almost daily.

It was a sunny afternoon. The Earth was dying, but thankfully the death hasn't spread to this part yet. I quickly braided my hair, the mixture of colors a sight to see, and ran into the near by forest. Animals are about as rare as a singing tree in most places, but not here! Deer sprinted at the sounds of the leaves beneath my feet, and grizzly bears did the opposite. To them, my footsteps were the sounds of a dinner bell.

Luckily, I have the ability to create a rock form around me, a way better disguise than a fake moustache. The bears cleared away and I broke my form, continuing my path towards the river.

The river is my favourite spot to hunt. Fish is the best food around here. I guess the squirrels are OK, but the fish take the prize! Now, back in the 2000's, people would use things called fishing rods. I don't get the point of sticking a pole in the water, it won't help you much. My way is much better! I sit cross-legged in front of the still water, and close my eyes. I summon a giant wave that will carry everything within that area of water (which I hope will include lunch).

It took a minute or two, but I finally heard the roar of a large wave. The water crashed over the spot in which I was sitting, leaving me soaking wet. But not hungry. Fish of all different kinds flopped desperately in my lap. I placed my food in a large sack and started walking to the clearing the other worlds use for their battleground, also known as my home.

During my walk, a small gust of wind blew by me, and the smell of smoke filled the air. That's how I knew a fight was to begin shortly. I ran as fast as I can, my bag of fish swishing helplessly behind me. I had little time, but I could see the clearing up ahead.

You see, when the Fire and Wind elements left, the Middleworld was left with only Earth and Water. So that means I get cold nights and still air. But it also means that the other worlds don't get water... Or land. I guess the Lowworld if fine without water, but what about the Highworld? So many questions that are not to be answered.

I reached the clearing just as the puff of smoke that the Lowworld warrior would arrive in filled the air. I quickly formed my little rock shelter and waited. The best thing about my form is that I can see everything, but all they would see is a rock.

The only reason I watch these fights is to see if maybe, just maybe, some permanent truce will be made, and I could see my parents again.

I can't really remember my parents, all I know is that my father used to toss me in the air, and my mother would let me fly away in the wind, limbs flailing and girly shrieks escaping my lips. I also remember the day they left me alone.

The sun was shining and birds were chirping, the perfect day to leave your only daughter alone on a deserted, war filled earth. The worst part is I didn't know what was coming. I just remember waking up to an empty clearing, a lone scrap of paper laying peacefully on a rock. Of course, I thought they went hunting for breakfast and decided to let me sleep. But then I read the note. To this very day I have the words that broke my young heart memorized.

Dear child,

Mummy and Daddy must leave, for we have our own homes to return to. We would love to take you with us, but our homes aren't near, and we don't want to fight over our darling daughter!

So this clearing is now your home, and you must treat it with respect. Remember everything we taught you and use your knowledge to your advantage. Remember to hide when others come to your home, even if you think it is us. We know your rock form, we will know you when we come back.

And yes, we will come back, sweety. It won't be soon though, and you will be on your own for many a year. Just remember that we love you, and that we do this for your protection. Remember to hunt and to train, so someday, we shall all be reunited once more. Forever.

Love, Mum and Dad.

Being three, I had no clue what was going on, but I realized something was bad. It took me two days without food to realize they weren't coming back. So I began my life.

As I look back at the letter, I still can't figure out what some of those lines mean. Remember to hunt and to train, so someday, we shall all be reunited once more. Forever. What did they mean by that? No matter what it meant, I know that something important is about to happen, and I play the lead role.
