The Legend of the Amulets PROLOGUEA Story by R_Denommee394I hope to post the rest soon, more description will come with every chapter!Earth. Thousands of years ago, maybe the early 2000's, it was a beautiful place. People roamed free, war was little, and the elements were at rest. I wasn't around back then, but I've heard stories. Stories about things called telephones, and vacuums. Of things named televisions and computers. They're all interesting stories, but there's one story that everybody knows, and would be a fool to think it's false.
It must have been in the mid 3000's (again, I was yet to be born) and the world basically ran on technology. Though that may have been good for the humans, it was slowly killing the Earth. Eventually, Earth was near death, and there was only one thing she could do to try and save herself. She released the elements. The elements (Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire) are not objects, they're spirits. They were angry spirits.
Wind decided to leave the Earth and live in the sky. But they had to have an army! So the Wind spirit chose the most intelligent and swift people and gave them the power of the wind. Wind would bend and dance at their wills. To tell a person of the Wind apart from others, they have a white line that wraps around both arms, climbs up their wrist, sneaks up the back of their hands and finally parts. The now two lines both take a side of their middle fingers, and finally join once again in the palm of their hands. Also, their skin is paper white, their hair the same colour, and their eyes are just a shade deeper (except for the pupil, and the outline of the iris, which are black).
The Fire spirit, who is already enemies with Wind, was enraged that they had taken the sky. So Fire took the opposite. They took to the centre of the Earth, but not before taking its own army. Fire took the strongest and most powerful people alive and gave them its power. They have the same design on their arms, but in blood red. Their skin is pitch black, like coals, with red glowing lines running around their bodies. The people of Fire have eyes the colours of red, orange, and yellow.
The Highworld (the floating colony of Wind) and the Lowworld (The buried colony of Fire) use Earth (the Middleworld) as their battleground. They are constantly at war with each other, but there is yet to be a winner. Yes, wind feeds flame, but it can also make it dance the way they want it to. But the power of Fire can be difficult to tame. With this impossible match, people die during most battles. But sometimes a truce is called, and each warrior retreats to their homes, tired from battle. Each World sends one warrior to fight at a time.
You're probably wondering what happened to Earth and Water. They were both circling the Earth, looking for a host to rest in, when they ran into each other and decided to team up. Together, they would find a person (or some people) who stands their ground and is strong enough to only be broken by themselves, like Earth. But who has a strong passion and shall never die down (unless in trickery), like Water. They would each engrave their mark on one arm. Unfortunately, it took them years to find someone to give their powers to. No one had the powers of Earth or Water... Until I came around.
My mother and my father come from different colonies. My mother was of Wind, and my father of Fire. They were fighters of high skill, and their battle was thought to be the one to end it all. But instead of fighting, they fell in love. And nine months later, a forbidden child was born. Me! And that is when Earth and Water found their person. The lines slithered onto my arms, one brown, one blue. And my eyes seemed to be getting the hint as one turned majestic blue, and the other brown in the middle, and a moss green on the outside. My roots are black, but the next section of hair is brown, then violet, then blue, then green. It eventually got as long as the backs of my knees.
My parents had little time to raise me, so they spent 3 years with me, and taught me everything they know. The only thing they couldn't teach me was how to control my elements, but I think I got that covered. Soon, they left me on my own. As I am a child never meant to be, I live my life in hiding.
When my parents left, they had not named me. So I named myself. My father's name is Sal, but he has a lisp, so he always said it like Thal. My mother's name is pronounced Lea, but is spelled L-I-A. So I combined my parents names to create my own. My name is Thalia, and I am the lone resident of the Middleworld. © 2012 R_Denommee394Author's Note
