Remembrance

Remembrance

A Poem by RWZ

Down the road of memories,

I walk back and see.

All the nights that we spent,

That seemed endless and infinite,

While the stars were up there high,

And me and you,

together in our shell.

I remember the laughter,

As we talked about it all,

About our highs and our lows,

The life we led then.

To think about it now,

Makes me cry tears of tears,

As I remember the people that came and went,

As I remember the storms we get now.

Still in the flood of remembrance,

I can smile with joy,

For the past that is gone,

Of careless hours yet to fill,

and our days of song.

Now we have another song to sing,

It may be different, hollow,

Yet to remember it all,

The past and beyond,

All the little things we shared,

The freedom of our youth,

Of swimming in innocence,

We sing louder.

I can silently laugh then,

As the door closes again.

Knowing I can open it,

Whenever, wherever,

And the memories will come flooding back.
