Gold & Iron

Gold & Iron

A Poem by RWZ

Gold & Iron

Through the silence of darkening plains,

The broken souls of men charge,

And in the midst of borne pain,

We stand alone, men apart.

Through the many chances given,

To rise above, to rise in love,

There is a place deep within,

That withholds, that tries in vain;

The remnants of the spirit resides,

With hope fragmented and slain,

So only a thread of will remains.

A moment of clarity may be found,

When the eyes look above, at the sky,

And through the clusters of white clouds,

Our hearts may open to but try,

To see the beauty in all that is,

To feel that love may but win,

And we surrender to what may come,

And change and promise may be won.

There is a time for all things under the sun,

When in innocence through fields we run,

And hearts broken through loss and strife.

And our potentials that ebb and flow,

To times we've lost, and dreams that grow

And moments when we roar alive,

To loves we hold and loves that die.

In the midst of all this being,

We find glory in every day,

With our hearts of gold and iron,

Our futures we can mold like clay.

So choose your minutes ever wisely,

Choose your thoughts and eyes that see,

Make the choice to live entirely,

And like the bones of a redwood tree,

Dare to be mighty, dare to endure

And with intentions wholly pure,

And a soul that surrenders

To love and wonder,

and what may be.
