I feel death's grip upon my arm

I feel death's grip upon my arm

A Poem by Rosi S. Phillips

I feel death's grip upon my arm
Soothing my raging heart
Calm is a sea before a storm
Like me"splitting apart

He gave me a scarf then"knowing
I was cold"without fear
I thanked him in kind"we walked on
and I was reassured

In short we came to separate
At a fork in the road
I held the scarf out"he declined
Smiling before he fled

Decided to let go huh...I liked this because it spoke like death had a heart or some mercy which in reality it does not. It is actually been described as "the enemy" taking away the people we love but this piece is one of the few that describe death as hopeful and not morbid. I am truly impressed with it.
