Ode to Aoibheal

Ode to Aoibheal

A Poem by Rosi S. Phillips

A slant of light highlights skin
Her rich sun-kissed ringlets
Her slanted eyes, perfect sin
With smooth curved hands like silk nets
Her ears pointed with a crown upon her head

Orchids grace her neck, smiling coyly
A gossamer gown rest on her body
Jewels ringing in tune with her song
Her voice stretching, curving, long
A fleck of gold in her eyes, flickering, sparking, exploding

She casts herself over time
Over space, past old into prime
A deep restless claims her form
Crawl into fire to become warm
She is forever and never, a circle never broken

She feels the power in her form
Deep seeded, thrumming like a drum
She is perfect... heaven, hell, ground
I dance around the faery mound
The air is chill, a heavy weight descends and I see the queen
