A Poem by Rosi S. Phillips

I know
they know,
I hear
them whisper.
The lies I hear,
they lies they tell,
I know!
It happens
everyday
I try to ignore, what the say
But the lies...
they come
back
like a hard
deafening
smack!
I feel like...
I'm trapped
so stop, stop, stop...
Just stop
the lies you tell...
before they
become the truth.
Around my neck
like a silken noose
Killing me...
now
becoming the truth
I know
I know it's not true
but oh,
that silken noose...
