There Are No Stars...

There Are No Stars...

A Poem by Rosi S. Phillips

There are no stars

The sky is a blanket of black

And running around my mind are fantasies

Until I look at the enveloping night

And clarity arrests my mind

I am clear on love, hate, right and wrong

My eyes mist

And I drink in solitude

I am nearly of age

Nearly alive and ripe with boundless freedoms

Only an experienced one can know

I feel the soft air from the vents

The biting teeth from insects

And I am nearly dead

My mind flickers like a flame on a wick

Answers come to questions unasked

Resolution and knowledge

The night cleanses my doubts and fears
