Child

Child

A Poem by Rosi S. Phillips

Feather across my skin

A barely distinguishable mark

I am stained with the scent of your skin

With your tongue

And sweet words

Said in the throng of passer-byers

In the names of reckoning

You beckon me

And I come

Like a bee to nectar

Like a child to candy

And I cross the street to you

But do not see

Your masterful lies caressing me

A twisted carcass in the street

With a smile on its face
