Love Lives ForeverA Story by Royce P. HuntIt's a short piece of literature, to tell off those who think that "Men" don't have feelings. He could feel the ice-cold wind stinging on his face; he couldn’t open his eyes, but tears rushed out from the corners of his blood-red eyes. But all he cared about was Jane, HIS Jane. Whom he loves with all his heart, nothing else mattered at this moment, not the fact that he was going way too fast, or that he couldn’t see his path due to his teary eyes. None of these made any difference to him right now. His Jane was leaving him, forever maybe; and he might never hear her voice, or see her face again. A sob finished this thought. Flashbacks of Jane played in his head. Strange, that he remembered every single moment of the past three years JUST like they happened, negligible of the fact that he wasn’t even paying attention most of the times. At this time, three years seemed like a very small time to him, considering it might all be over. But how could it? Life doesn’t just ruin everything at the best part! That’s illogical! But, three years is quite some time after all! And only two days ago, they were lying together on the grass in a garden, talking about how more than perfect their lives will get when they can finally live together. Who knew, that time was never to come? “We’re one for an eternity, James” said Jane “We were brought to this world together, and we will depart it together, as one!” Not in their wildest dreams would they have thought that their love would have such an end! They were meant to be together! Brought to this world, indeed on the same day. James didn’t believe, that they met by a coincidence, he remembered, three years ago, on his way home from high school, she walked into the bus, in a scarlet blouse, and blue jeans; her blonde hair tied in a pony to the side of her head, and her green eyes met his… “Umm, can I sit here?” said Jane. He didn’t answer; in fact, he hadn’t even noticed her speak. She bent her neck to the side, and asked again, “Hey? Can I sit here please? Every other seat’s taken!” James closed his eyes, and slightly shook his head, “Yes! Sure… Please!” unable to hide his nervousness; he sunk into his chair, still unable to turn his eyes away from her face. Jane had noticed the shiver in his voice, which enlightened her face with the most beautiful smile, James had ever seen. She passed him to take her seat and her legs knocked his knees, but for some reason, this felt good to James. Jane smiled again, when she noticed James staring helplessly into her eyes, without blinking. “I’m Desire, Jane Desire!” “Yes *clears throat* yes you are…” replied James foolishly to the term “desire”. Jane grinned, and looked away, out of the window. But James couldn’t bear having her face out of his sight. So he talked, actually yelled, “HEY!” and he shivered even himself at the loudness of his nervous voice, so he immediately bit his tongue at the silliness of that, “I’m… I’m uhh *gulp* uhh-“ You’re James Prescott!” Jane smiled, “I know, you play basketball for our school!” James heart was thumping crazy by now, his back sweaty. Jane noticed the rise of pace in his breaths, and without hesitation she held his hand and brought it to her lips, pressing them tightly into the back of his hand. James looked like he was lost in a different dimension. Jane looked into his eyes, as though waiting eagerly for him to make a move, but James didn’t move, he looked as if he were to pass out any moment. She waited for a few seconds, but he didn’t respond, so she put her head on his shoulder and just waited. Coming back to his senses, after what felt like several minutes, James finally found his voice, and said, much more confidently than earlier, “Would you-“ “Seven!” she said immediately, “at the coffee shop in downtown” she smiled, and kissed his cheek. Finally, James grinned. And she felt James’ grip tighten around her hand, and she nudged closer, and closed her eyes. But now, his Jane was leaving him, maybe forever, there was no telling. James felt fire in his heart, probably worse than the fire that had burned his Jane, and sent her to the hospital. She was in the garage of her house, just an electrical short circuit ignited a fire, there were tanks of oil there, her father’s bid, that exploded. Jane paid the price of being at the wrong place, at the wrong time! Doctors doing their best to keep her alive! *Beep… Beep… Beep* her last heart beats traced onto the ECG monitor. James was riding his bike as fast as he could, he had to be with her, hold her hand, and keep her heart beating. But fate had different plans for the two of them, he missed noticing a bump on the road, but too late; his bike toppled, James rolled a few times on the track, and the inertia dragged him further and further, the hard road, tearing and ripping his flesh off his bones, and his head hit a tree hard… Jane gasped at her hospital-bed; her ECG went flat, her green eyes staring without sight, and the two dropped dead at once!
