closerA Story by ROSEMARYShe never knew she wasn't aloneI peered from my window, through the safety of my room. Here is a quick rundown of how my life came to this. Around 16 years ago my mom found out she was pregnant with me, she was obviously thrilled. When she told my dad….well he was furious, my father allowed her to have the baby(me) but was verbally abusive towards my mom during the whole pregnancy. Once my grandmother who I now live with heard about this, she prayed to a archangel name Pelsavaonti to send a angel in the form of a cat to watch over and protect me. Once I was born, my father started abusing my mother and soon after I turned 6 I got a kitten named Patchouli but my father also started hurting me soon after. Patchouli saw this and reported to Pelsavaonti. Pelsavaonti soon saw the potential in me, she saw how careful, considerate and protective of every living thing I was. She made me immortal and gave me many abilities including, telekinesis, psychic abilities, healing powers and mind control. I also had some other powers given to me by the all mighty god himself to protect myself, major strength, floating powers, and the ability to have nature do my bidding. Pelsavaonti brought back up the angel but allowed the normal cat half of Patchouli to stay with me. Patchouli was still immortal though. Now back to present day, Patchouli sat on my desk while I drew a sketch of the rain falling down outside. Then Patchouli jumped up and her eyes went wide, I noticed closed my eyes and heard a loud moving van go down the street, then the brakes squeaked as the van came to a stop by the old house to the left of mine. I jumped up and brushed my curly black hair, put a jacket over my black camisole and put on my slippers. I rushed downstairs, the smell of ginger wafting onto my face, Patchouli right behind me staggering at my feet when I peered out of the downstairs window facing the house on the left.“Hi darling, will you bring these cookies to the new neighbors please”, granny said to me. “Of course grammy”, I replied, grabbing my bag and sliding my notebook into it.I grabbed the cookies on my way out of the door. I walked to the house and saw a happy looking woman in her 40’s or 50’s. I felt eyes staring at me, so I looked over and saw a boy probably a year older than me, he was pale like I was, he had black hair, wore a white shirt tucked into his jeans with a red flannel over that, he looked oddly familiar. He blushed when I saw him looking and I smiled and waved. I went over to the mom, who accepted the cookies and thanked me and my granny for the kind gesture all while I could feel the boy looking at me. He thought I looked familiar too. I walked into the wooded path I made behind my house and sat down in the little area I set up for myself, I made sure the water never hit the area so that the area would never be soiled. I pulled out my book and put my headphones in which I always kept in my bag. Patchouli curled up right by me and I started to dive into the book. I felt Patchouli move from my side so I looked up, there stood the boy. I glanced up, he was much taller than I remembered. I smiled at him and patted the blanket I was sitting on, gesturing to him to join me. He sat down and paused for a moment looking around. “What book are you reading?”,he asked. I didn’t really know what to say, the book was a journal of my grandmas that held all the guidance I would need and stories from her life. “Oh um, it’s a book of my Grandmothers”, I quickly answered. He smiled a little. “My name’s Flint …..well not really”, I laughed a little at this, which made him blush again. “What do you mean not really?”I asked, he proceeded to tell me that his original name was Hades because he had destructive powers so his mom and dad thought he was a child of the devil and abandoned him. He now lives with his adoptive family, and changed his name to Flint. When he looked up he could see that I was about to cry. “Oh… What.. What's wrong?!”, he said moving closer to me. I proceeded to tell him everything in my past including my abilities. He looked at me and cracked a smile. “I.. wow!”, he laughed,”So you're like in a way, a goddess?”. I smiled at him and layed down, he laid down too. “Wait, I never caught your name”, he whispered while we watched the sunset. “Oh it’s Evanor, It’s a bit odd I know”, he smiled at this. “Evanor is not odd, its beautiful”. © 2020 ROSEMARYAuthor's Note
