Life of a Farmer

Life of a Farmer

A Poem by R.M.C

Satisfied yawn welcomes the dawn
Of another day in the fields;
With a wide smile, I lay a while,
Enjoying the birds' symphony.

I enjoy my breakfast and tea,
Gazing across the vast landscape;
With sunrise, feeling at peace (free),
I watch the world slowly take shape.

With contentment, my hours are spent
Tending my animals and land,
Stopping to stare at land so fair,
So thankful for my life (so grand).

Days end I rest my tired feet,
Reclining before the T.V.,
Content by a hard days work and
Knowing this is the life for me.

A great write. The lines flowed easily and the rhyming was flawless. You painted such a contented picture of the farmer. He is just where he wants to be....something not many can say in life. I enjoyed this. Lydi**

I'm not a farmer, but I'm a country girl & this expresses my sentiments exactly. Most people would be bored shitless to live my life, but to me, it's full of interesting & intriguing wonders all around. I love the rhymes in the first stanza especially. I'm not crazy about the parenthetical asides, but it works for the message. I'm left with the same simple contentment I feel about my life in general. Very simple & straightforward & relatable for me.

The parenthetical asides were hardly worth mentioning, in the scheme of overall liking your piece.

I think you have. My partner is a farmer, and he smiles when he talks about farm work. :)
