A crime of passion, an act of mercyA Poem by R.M.CHopefully the poem will speak for itself...I’m forever still, yet travelling The world and the intangible realms; Most senses are dulled, yet I’m revelling In a spectra of feelings and emotions. My mind is weighed down by my body, Dreams tinged by the sadness of truth, I hear all, I see all, But I cannot respond to your call. You look upon me, my body - my shackle - A painful reminder of a life altering debacle; Your pain - and anguish - overshadowing any joys I may still be gifted, such as gazing upon our fine boys. Your heart-strings are raw, tender to every beat, Your body fatigued as you’re run off your feet, Every day a weight is placed upon your taunt shoulders, Your mind is unravelling, your eyes but shadows of dimmed light. Your limit soon approaches: you can no longer bear To suffer the waking nightmares that terrorise you with Your anguished thoughts of what I’m suffering - and of what it’s Subsequently doing to you and our children. A crime of passion, an act of mercy, What you do, you do for me, Not knowing that your pain is unwarranted For I’m not praying for death as you may think. I know of your intentions from the look in your eyes, And even though I don’t want it, I know it’s what’s best; As you place the pillow and stifle my involuntary cries, I try to convey my love and acceptance through my eyes. © 2016 R.M.CReviews
