Love can end in heart ache, but that doesn't mean that you regret loving someone.

I do not regret loving you

For this reason, I had given us another go,

It sounds like the author wants to rationally convince himself that breaking up was the thing to do and he can file the relationship with other things past.

But it does not feel that is the end of it...
