Im not insane. Im relaxed.

Im not insane. Im relaxed.

A Poem by R.G. Johnson

I’m not insane. I’m relaxed.

from the couch
I see it all sideways
as if the universe had intended
to be seen from this vantage.

your exorcised demons
are knocking at my window.
I tell them I only accept
résumésin the morning.

as I wonder why
there are commercials
for tampons, bandages,
condiments and condoms

all of the day’s profound
statements are leaked onto
the floor, and stagnate like
old soup. I skim the white

noise from the top and chew it
as a bubblegum opiate.
because, from this unique
sideways perspective,

that kind of absurd litter
is impregnable logic.
