The Meekest Love StoryA Poem by Rea SkyBased on a true storyThe Meekest Love Story
Your friends told me; you liked me Even though I never laid my eyes on you So I searched the crowd out of curiosity There, I found all about you
One day we finally became friends Your friendship was warm as if holding hands So I waited in case you tried Telling me sweet words with pride
Another day came, no sweet talk Ever was spoken between us Not even a happy walk With you ever passed!
Was I only an assuming fool? Believing rumors and nonsense? Was I only a tool For fun and random chance?
I decided to go away To protect my foolish heart Forgot all about that happy day Even if it hurts to part
But fate must be very ironic One rainy day, I was very sick So I stayed quiet and meek Sitting rigidly like a stick
Then you came to me Asking if I was okay I only nodded out of courtesy But you stayed anyway
Then you spoke of your joy in the past About whom your fate is tied To a girl who let your joy last But she ignored you thus your joy died
“That girl was you”, you told me With those warm eyes pleading I was caught off guard, you see! From a confession I stopped from expecting
Here you are gathering all the courage To ask me for love, is it not? I was then so outraged My heart and insides were all in knots!
I hated the way you shy away Leaving me always in dismay Afraid of imperfection, you say? Imperfection I fell for everyday!
When will you be brave and proud For such feelings of warm love? Please tell me very loud About your love as free as a dove
Do not hesitate again--that’s what I like And I shall do the same Do not wait before it’s too late Just tell me with no shame
“I like you” he said. And forever I won’t be gray “I love you” he said And forever I will stay
