Still Breathtaking

Still Breathtaking

A Poem by Robbie Churchill

The warmth of your body is fading away

Like a ripple in water on its last wave

The sound of your voice like a whisper in the wind

Drowned out by loneliness developed within

Your smile lit up like a summer’s night sky

So bright you melted the hearts of each passerby

Soft spoken words struck as fierce as lightening

Reviving the cells that kept us from breathing

Like spring to the flower you inspired growth

Making clear in life of what matters most

Like a passenger, you gave me direction

Guiding me towards a love to invest in

You’re gone but still able to take my breath

Memories of you I’ll hold till there’s nothing left

Like clouds that fill with precipitation

Tears fall for you when your name gets mentioned

Like a fingerprint on my heart, you’re like no other

Touched me beyond a comprehensible level

When reality sets in that you’re not here

I’ll read these words and slowly disappear
