homeless

homeless

A Poem by Keith Williams
"

the homeless situation

"

I wake up from a deep sleep on the concrete
wondering if today i’m gonna eat
tired feet hit the streets
searching for a nine to five
hoping i can stay alive
it’s rough but i’ve got to survive
hit the computers in the library
drop a few verses of poetry
talking to my fans who know of me
being homeless strenghtens my mentality
dealing with these streets my reality
washing up in the train station
giving my advice to the homeless nation
imagine waking up everyday with drug addicts
who can’t escape their bad habits
the mentally challenged, and prostitution
can you tell me what’s the solution?
to a problem growing in a massive way
i’m talking about the world, not just the USA
the elderly with no where to go
family abandoned them so
we fight elements of nature
dealing with government officials pushing paper
children running in gangs
the street violence is growing
while the president says the stats don’t show it
HIV rampid, and thousands dying
these tears can’t be seen when we’re crying
to the world we seem invisible
the rich, and other individuals
throw pennies, and crumbs like we’re criminals
screaming he’s a slob!! get a job
ain’t that hard with no money dummy
we’re just hoping that the next day is sunny
when it’s cold hypothermia sets in
killing some of my best friends
when will this madness end
it’s like being homeless is a sin
we’re looked down on, and frowned at
chased by rats, beat with baseball bats
that’s why some of us carry gats
to be exact as a matter of fact
it’s by any means necessary
if you think this world is scary
imagine how it looks to me
being homeless is my reality
but tomorrow you might not remember me
if the streets claim another casuality
your listening to the rapper RAS KDC
this is dedicated to my homeless family
peace
