I traveled miles to a town called hope
where dreams, and aspirations waited
for a glimpse of tomorrow
where it’s citizens were wrapped in joy and sorrow
it seemed to be a everyday town
where all your hopes, and dreams could be found
in love and laughter
life here, and after
music played constantly
sometimes too often for me
they kind of played with memories
like ice cream parlors, and barber shops
reggae, r&b, and hip hop
the oldies but goodies made me dance
in a trance of past romance
yet i still relaxed and had fun
sitting in the park
soaking up the sun
every now and then a diva would walk by
sexy, and sweet to the eye
my heart said speak
as my knees grew weak
i let too many pass by
i often asked why?
that of course was my biggest hope
to love again, and be able to cope
with the pleasure, and pain
without losing what i should of gained
i know it sounds insane
how do i explain
my journey through love
all things i’m thinking of
it’s like a melody trapped inside
playing over, and over again
questioning the sincerity of a friend’
wondering what magic could this be?
how did she cast her spell on me?
why am i ready to fall so quickly
into love’s sweet embrace
why do i steadily fall on my face?
so i chill for awhile
contemplate, relax and smile
enjoy the town’s beauty
imagine what it’s all worth
then chase a cutie in a skirt
forget the fear of being hurt
if you want true love
you’ve got to put in work
