Chapter 10

(5 hours later)
Noble: Alright let’s start heading for that airstrip.
The squad leaves the safe house in the jungle and heads for the airstrip
They see an AC130 waiting for them
Pilot: Wow good job guys.
The squad doesn’t respond back
They get on the plane
Noble takes out a piece of paper
On the piece of paper he writes…
Noble: Don’t talk about the situation on the plane, we could be recorded.
He holds up the paper
The squad looks at the paper and shakes their heads
The squad makes it back to HQ in Connecticut in 5 hours due to them destroying the South American governments
Noble: Ok guys, stay frosty.
They walk towards HQ and notice three recently dug graves by the front entrance
Artemis takes notice to it and keeps walking
They head towards the conference room and they find Reps Jaramillo and Yoel waiting for them
Noble painfully hugs his father and Juno does the same
Rep. Jaramillo: You do not know how great it feels to see you guys back safe and sound.
Noble: Yeah it’s good to “home”.
Artemis: Where’s my mother?
Rep. Yoel: Oh she went out the country to see how much of a good job you guys did.
Artemis: Right.
Rep. Jaramillo: Athena and Minerva, your mothers went with Artemis’ to take pictures.
Athena: Ok no problem
Minerva: Gotcha.
The squad leaves and they all go to their rooms
Noble in his room starts preparing for the inevitable
Minerva starts pacing around her room
Juno starts punching a heavy bag in her room
Artemis starts setting mini traps in her room
Athena rubs her stomach and thinks about her unborn child
(6 hours later)
The squad heads to sleep
Noble goes to sleep with his M4A1 next to him in bed
Artemis sleeps with a knife under her pillow
Minerva sleeps with her leg holster on and with her pistol still in it
Juno sleeps with her eyes open
Athena sets up a camera in her room then goes to sleep
(The Next Day)
The squad goes about their daily routines and pretends nothing has happened
Athena talks to Noble
Minerva, Juno and Artemis converse between one another
Noble walks through the halls with paranoia always looking over his shoulder
Athena walks with a much more faster pace now
Artemis still keeps a cool manor
Juno walks around with a knife in sleeves now
Minerva now walks around with her leg holster on at all times
For several months the squad keeps these habits
Artemis stars to notice that her mother, Athena’s mother and Minerva’s mother have not came back
Artemis goes to talk to Rep. Jaramillo
Artemis: Mr. Jaramillo where is my mother?
Rep. Jaramillo: Oh I thought I told you, your mother and the others decided to stay in South America.
Artemis: Why?
Rep. Jaramillo: I guess they like the sights and whatnot.
Artemis: Ok.
(Nightfall)
Artemis goes outside to investigate the three graves
She starts digging away at one of them
She finally reaches the casket and opens it.
Artemis gasps
She finds her mother’s remains
She sits in her mother’s grave and starts crying
Artemis: NO! Those fuckers couldn’t have killed her.
Artemis: Why did they kill you!?
Suddenly a person starts sneaking behind her.
The person approaches behind Artemis and prepares to stab her.
Artemis turns around and grabs the person’s wrists. She breaks one of the person’s wrists and takes the knife. She then out of anger and sadness proceeds to stab the person in the chest. She repeatedly stabs the person. After she kills the person she then breaks the person’s necks. After she does that she dumps the body in the grave along with her mother’s remains.
While crying hysterically, she covers the grave back up.
Rep. Jaramillo watches everything that just happened through a camera
After that she heads to Noble’s room
Noble can hear her sobbing at the door
He gets out of bed and lets her in
She tells his what happened
Noble: We gotta get out of here.
Noble assembles the squad
He tells Minerva to grab the UAV that was being worked on while they were away
On their way out guards start shooting at them
Noble: Artemis, Minerva, Athena get out of here! Juno, with me!
Artemis, Minerva and Athena run for the exit while Juno and Noble fight off the guards. Juno throws a frag grenade at the guards. The guards run. Noble and Juno start to run for the exit and they make it outside. They run into more incoming fire. Juno grabs a guard shoots him in the head and uses him for a human shield. Noble engages some guards in hand to hand combat and kills all of them. He runs to Juno’s side. He pulls his M4A1 back out. He notices Juno runs out of ammo. She raises her hand and Noble tosses her a magazine. She puts in her Pistol and proceeds to fire at the guards again. Juno and Noble line up back to back and kill more guards. Juno gets hit in left arm. Juno yells. Noble notices it and proceeds to throw a smoke grenade. He yells for Minerva to pick them up. Juno and Noble make their way behind some cover. Minerva and the others show up in a car and pick them up. They drive away.
Noble: Cyara’s hit!
Minerva: Athena! Treat her!
Athena takes out a first aid kit starts treating Juno’s wound
Athena takes a bullet out if Juno’s arm then wraps a bandage around her arm
Athena: Alright that should be fine
Noble: Allison where did you put the UAV?
Minerva: In the trunk.
Noble: Ok.
They reach an airstrip 25 minutes later
They run out of the car and steal a small passenger airplane
Minerva pilots the airplane
They get the airplane off the ground and start flying for Japan
Artemis: Alright I got to call my contact.
Artemis: Yo Takashi.
Takashi: Charlene! What’s up?
Artemis: Listen we need a safe house in Tokyo.
Takashi: Don’t worry I got just the place.
Artemis: Thanks man! I owe you.
Artemis hangs up
Artemis: Alright. Tokyo awaits.
