ACT I
1 The Four of Melsincci 1
There are Four characters onstage. They are
Valnos, Proxos, Velmina, and Parmina. Parmina
steps forward.
PARMINA
(seriously)
I am Parmina Berfry. I come from the land of Belhimus
and I am the daughter of Borsair Berfry and Mithilena
Berfry. I have three younger brothers, Jox, Nal, and
Fix. I usually don’t talk too much but I do want to
accomplish things quickly.
Parmina steps back. Velmina steps forward.
VELMINA
(energetically)
I am Velmina Warhound. I come from the land of Lupirsa.
I am easily bored and always in the search for
adventure. I am the daughter of Dartrus Warhound III
and Ninas Warhound and the younger sister of the famous
Melx Warhound. My father taught me how to fight like
man and my mother taught me how to act like a woman.
This leads to men underestimating me which also leads
to a lot of broken bones.
Velmina smiles as she steps back. Proxos steps
forward.
PROXOS
(calmly)
I am Proxos Martodus II and I come from the small
village of Jingxa located in Jorpasso, the largest
kingdom of Melsincci. My father was Proxos Martodus I
and my mother was Sendrie Martodus. I am an only child
so I did not experience any fights with siblings. That
is a good thing since I prefer peace to war but that
doesn’t mean I am a pacifist. If I need to talk to the
high king of Melsincci, I will do so.
Proxos steps back as Valnos steps forward.
VALNOS
(majestically)
I am Valnos Xeriandos. I come from the land of Belhimus
and I am the son of Zemrax Xeriandos and Laroze
Xeriandos and I have a sister named Lexis Xeriandos. I
am usually the one who takes initiative to take action.
When they say that the journey of a thousand miles
begins with a single step, I’m the first to take that

VALNOS (cont’d)
initial step. I think quick and this leads to me acting
quick.
Proxos steps back and follows as the other three
exit.
2 The Siege of Belhimus 2
We are now in Belhimus. The houses are made of
bricks. There isn’t much technology, the most
advanced piece of technology is the pulley system
on the clothesline. We focus on Parmina’s house,
especially her room. It is eleven fifty-eight,
almost midnight.
Parmina is snoring as she soon hears a scream from
below.
MITHILENA
AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
Parmina immediately wakes up and runs outside her
room.
PARMINA
Mom?
MITHILENA
Stop! Take me but don’t take them!
DORX
(with a snakish accent)
I’m sorry Mrs. Berfry but they have to go now!
Parmina goes downstairs and sees her father on the
ground unconscious. A short man was wrestling her
younger brothers outside the door.
MITHILENA
I’ll do anything. Please, let them go. They did no
harm.
DORX
They didn’t do anything wrong, Mrs. Berfry. I was
ordered by Lord Brohm to take them. He gave no reason
as to why.
Parmina rushed back in her room and got a wooden
baton from her closet. She went back out and snuck
down the stairs.

MITHILENA
HELP! PLEASE! HELP US!
DORX
No use screaming, Mrs. Berfry. I enclosed your house in
a soundproof field. I’m just waiting for my ride out of
here.
Parmina looked outside and saw other children
being taken from the other houses.
MITHILENA
This is insane! Belhimus did nothing to Lord Brohm. We
pay our taxes. We praise Lord Brohm. Why is he doing
this.
DORX
Like I said, he gave no reason.
Parmina saw the Brohmic Wagon ~ a black vehicle
with three compartments, the front with the
driver, the middle with the collectors, and the
back with the prisoners ~ picking up the children
from the house beside them. The other collectors
threw the kids at the back as they sat in the
middle. Without thinking, she jumps out of hiding
and lunges at Dorx, hitting him with the baton.
PARMINA
Let my brothers go you vile creature!
DORX
Stop that you stupid little girl!!
PARMINA
Let them go!
The Brohmic Wagon parked in front of their house.
Dorx struggles to get the three children to the
wagon but Parmina follows them there. She manages
to save Fix, the youngest brother, from the truck.
Dorx brings out an arrow gun from his pocket.
DORX
Let him go, little girl, or I’ll shoot your mother!
In a split second, Jox, the second oldest child
and the oldest brother, wrestles Dorx’s aim away
from their mother. Dorx fires all over the place
as he loses hold of Nal.

JOX
Nal, run away!
Nal runs away as the other collectors come out to
help Dorx.
MITHILENA
RUN CHILDREN! RUN AWAY!
Mithilena falls to the ground as the collectors
shoot him.
JOX
MOMMY! You bad men!
Dorx fires at Parmina but misses. He fires some
more but is shaken by the sight of the shortest
child, falling to the ground.
JOX
FIX! NOO!
The collectors knock Jox out and stuff him at the
back. They enter the middle compartment as the
Brohmic Wagon sets of into the night.
3 Losing a Brother 3
Parmina is now kneeling down, Fix in her hands.
She can’t hold back the tears, her youngest
brother dead in her arms and her second youngest
brother crying into the wind.
PARMINA
Come on Nal.
Nal is still crying over Fix.
PARMINA
Nal, your baby brother is sleeping, we have to let him
rest.
NAL
But Mina, why is he covered in blood? When I see Jox
sleeping, his chest moves. Why is Fix still.
Parmina is devastated by her younger brother’s
realization.
PARMINA
There’s nothing we can do now. We have to go, Nal.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 5.
NAL
(weakly)
Okay.
Nal stands up and Parmina carries Fix’s body to
the river. She goes to the boathouse and finds an
empty boat. She lies Fix’s resting body into the
boat and Parmina takes off her jacket. She places
it over Fix’s body and sets it to sail in the
endless river.
PARMINA
Goodbye Fix.
Parmina dropped to the ground, sobbing into her
sleeve. Nal went to her, trying to comfort her but
failed, seeing as he was crying himself.
4 The Aftermath at Belhimus 4
Valnos walks out of his house and sees Borsair
Berfry crying over Mithilena’s dead body on the
doorstep of their home. Valnos moves closer.
VALNOS
Mr. Berfry?
BORSAIR
(sobbing)
What is it young Valnos?
VALNOS
I know what happened last night. I t-t-tried to stop
them but, they were too quick.
BORSAIR
Those b******s? Quicker than Valnos Xeriandos?!
Preposterous! I would never believe that! Don’t comfort
me with lies!
VALNOS
I wasn’t quick enough because I was worrying about my
sister. They have her too. I intend to get her back. I
just need a little help. Where’s Parmina?
BORSAIR
I will not allow you to put any more of my children in
harm’s way!
VALNOS
She’s not even in here, is she?
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 6.
Borsair’s eyes filled with sorrow as he bowed his
head down and continued to mourn his wife. He
turned his head up to say.
BORSAIR
The neighbors said she ran towards the Mithril Forest.
She’s headed for Lupirsa.
VALNOS
Do you want me to bring her back?
BORSAIR
No. Valnos, your family has been too kind to us. It
would be better if you just rest.
VALNOS
But Mr. Berfry, my family wasn’t the only family to
have lost a child.
BORSAIR
THOSE BUGGERS KILLED MY LITTLE FIX! THE NEIGHBORS SAW
IT WITH THEIR OWN EYES. I DON’T WANT ANY MORE
CASUALTIES IN THE NAME OF THE BERFRYS!
VALNOS
Calm down Mr. Berfry. Let’s go inside.
BORSAIR
NO! I’m staying right here! I lost EVERYTHING! My wife,
My daughter, my sons, they’re all gone.
VALNOS
Mr. Berfry, if you could give me permission to solicit
the assistance of your daughter, whom I believe has the
skill and courage to save the children of Belhimus, I
swear on the graves of my forefathers that I will set
everything right.
Borsair was taken aback by this sudden statement.
He thought about it for a while.
BORSAIR
No harm will come upon my daughter?
VALNOS
Sir, if anyone will be returning here for a burial, it
would be anyone but Parmina Berfry.
BORSAIR
Then go forth, young Valnos. Set everything right.
Valnos bowed down to Borsair.

VALNOS
Thank you, Mr. Berfry.
Valnos stood back up and went in his house. After
a few minutes. He went back out with all his stuff
and set out towards Mithril Forest.
5 The Gate of Lupirsa 5
Having just gotten out of Mithril Forest, Parmina
and Nal entered the gates of the crystal city of
Lupirsa. They were met by guards in shimmering
blue uniforms.
GUARD # 1
Who goes there?
PARMINA
I am Parmina Berfry, sir. I come from the land of
Belhimus.
GUARD # 2
What is your business here?
PARMINA
I simply seek refuge from the men of Lord Brohm. Lord
Brohm has granted Lupirsa their own government, did he
not?
GUARD # 1
Well, yes he did, thanks to the Warhounds. The head of
the family, Dartrus Warhound III, led in the war of
Asphixeles. He was the main reason they won that war.
Lord Brohm then granted his land independence.
PARMINA
Well, that’s great. May I enter your majestic land?
GUARD # 2
We have to ask the approval of Lord Heimus. He rules
this land.
Just then, Ninas Warhound walked from the Mithril
Forest and seeked to enter Lupirsa.
GUARD # 1
Mrs. Warhound, enter please.
Ninas glanced at Parmina before entering the gate.
She turned around and faced Parmina.

NINAS
Darling, are you from Belhimus?
PARMINA
Yes, ma’am.
NINAS
How come you have your younger brother with you, if I’m
not mistaken?
PARMINA
You know of the events that transpired there last
night, ma’am?
NINAS
Well, yes. I was in the nearby village of Belhorus
shopping for local spices when the Brohmic Wagon passed
by and the collectors issued lockdown. I asked the
residents of Belhimus about what happened and, well,
they told me.
PARMINA
I need to hide, ma’am.
NINAS
No worries, um..., what is your name?
PARMINA
Parmina Berfry, ma’am.
NINAS
I’m Ninas Warhound.
(to the guards)
Let us in, I’ll handle Lord Heimus.
The guards opened the gate and the three of them
entered.
6 Velmina Warhound 6
As they entered the gates of Lupirsa, Ninas walked
them over to the central plaza. There was a crowd
there and they were watching something in the
middle.
MELVIS
You just got lucky, girl!
VELMINA
There’s no luck when skill is involved!

MELVIS
You can’t beat me!
Parmina moved closer but the crowd was too large.
She could hear the fight but she couldn’t see it.
Suddenly, the crowd cheered and moved away. In the
middle was Velmina Warhound, and on the ground was
Melvis Notchawk.
NINAS
Good work, Velmina!
VELMINA
MOM!
Velmina rushed towards Ninas and hugged her.
VELMINA
Oh, Mom. I’m so glad you’re okay. I heard what happened
in Belhimus. Dad and I were so worried.
NINAS
I can fight too you know. Let’s head back home.
Velmina then noticed Parmina.
VELMINA
Hello, I’m Velmina Warhound.
Parmina was too shy to return the greeting.
VELMINA
Hello? Anybody there?
Parmina took a deep breath.
PARMINA
I’m Parmina Berfry.
VELMINA
Pleasure to meet you Berfry.
NINAS
Velmina, she’s from Belhimus.
VELMINA
Oh, Goodness. You must be skilled in escape.
PARMINA
Not really, I was just lucky.

CONTINUED: 10.
VELMINA
There isn’t one day where luck and skill come hand in
hand, Parmy. It’s either luck, or skill alone. You,
have skill. Only lower people need luck to survive.
PARMINA
Well, I...
VELMINA
Well, Parmy, can I call you that?
PARMINA
Sure.
VELMINA
Great! Parmy, as long as you’re lucky enough to have
the image of Lupirsa in your eyes, luck no longer plays
into the equation. In all of Melsincci, Lupirsa is the
capital of skill. Once you reach Lupirsa, luck will
never be needed again.
PARMINA
Okay, I’ll take your word for it.
VELMINA
Let’s go to our place.
7 Warhound Residence 7
The four enter the mansion-like home of the
Warhounds. The walls were lined with crystal.
PARMINA
Wow! This place is amazing.
VELMINA
Welcome to Lupirsa. This home is only second best to
Lord Heimus. Lord Heimus’ home is the only home in all
of Melsincci to be made out of diamonds.
PARMINA
Wow.
Just then, Mr. Warhound walks down the stairs.
DARTRUS
Ninas, you’re back at last.
NINAS
Oh, honey. I missed you.
Ninas runs towards Dartrus and hugs him. When she
lets go, Dartrus notices Parmina.

DARTRUS
Honey, who is this?
VELMINA
Oh, dad. She’s Parmina Berfry from Belhimus.
DARTRUS
Oh, Dear Goodness, Belhimus. Didn’t you hear? Lord
Brohm is furious that they lost two children last
night.
Parmina remembers what happened and a single tear
streams down her left eye.
VELMINA
Hey, Parmy, what’s wrong?
PARMINA
Those two, were my brothers.
VELMINA
Well, one is with you right now.
PARMINA
This is Nal Berfry. The other one they lost was Fix
Berfry. They
Parmina’s tears turned into mourning. She still
couldn’t believe that Fix was gone.
VELMINA
It’s okay. Parmina, take a seat.
NINAS
No, Velmina. Take them to your room. Make them nice and
comfortable. I’ll make breakfast.
DARTRUS
Oh, you got the spices.
NINAS
Of course. I won’t let those Brohman b******s get in
the way of our delicious breakfast.
Velmina guided Parmina and Nal upstairs.
NINAS
Girls! Would you like Belhoran Pancakes or Belhoran
Bread.
VELMINA
Pancakes would be nice. How about you Parmina.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 12.
PARMINA
(softly)
I’m not in the mood fro breakfast.
VELMINA
PANCAKES SHE SAID!
NINAS
Okay then.
PARMINA
Why’d you do that?
VELMINA
Look, Parmy. Until Lord Brohm get’s his junk
straightened out, you’re my sister and Nal here’s my
baby brother. My mom, Ninas Warhound, she’s your mom
and my dad, Dartrus Warhound the III, is your dad. This
home, the Warhound Residence, is your home. And until
everything is straightened out, your last name will be
Warhound.
PARMINA
Okay.
VELMINA
What I’m trying to say is, until you get your family
back, you’re part of our family. Understand?
(pause)
Parmina Warhound
Parmina smiled at this and gave Velmina a hug
PARMINA
Thanks sis! Thanks a lot. I don’t know how Nal and I
can thank you.
VELMINA
No problem. Whenever Mom and Dad let me take someone to
my room, they usually mean "welcome to the family."
Parmina stares at Velmina strangely.
VELMINA
(while laughing)
Haha... just kidding Parmy. Come one, let’s go to my
room.
Suddenly, outside there was a big boom and
everything turned dark.

NORDOX
WHERE IS NAL BERFRY.
VELMINA
Take Nal to the end of the hallway and enter the room
to your right. On the right wall you will see a light
switch, instead of flipping it upwards, flip it to the
left. You will be undetected by Brohman Warriors, which
is presumably what we have outside.
PARMINA
Um...
VELMINA
You understand?
PARMINA
Yeah.
Velmina took out a sword from a holster at her
right side.
VELMINA
Go! I’ll deal with Screwface out there!
Parmina ran to the end of the hallway as Velmina
went back downstairs.
8 The Dark Servant of Brohm 8
Velmina ran outside to see her parents standing
guard against Nordox, the dark servant of Brohm.
He looks like an extremely tall man but in full
black, from the skin color to the hair to the
eyes. The only thing about him that is not black
is the red seal of Brohm on his chest.
NORDOX
I WILL NOT ASK AGAIN? WHERE IS NAL BERFRY.
DARTRUS
There are no Berfrys in Lupirsa!
NORDOX
The Lord’s Trackers have specifically mentioned Lupirsa
as the location of the missing Berfry. If you are
lying, not only will Lord Brohm take away your
independence but HE WILL FOREVER SHROUD YOUR LAND IN
DARKNESS!!!
VELMINA
NORDOX! I WOULD LIKE MY SISTER BACK NOW!
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 14.
NINAS
Velmina! I thought we agreed never to speak about that
again.
VELMINA
Mom, Nordox doesn’t exactly appear every week, does he?
NORDOX
Your sister will not return until you have paid your
debt, young Velmina. But The Goodness of Lord Brohm has
allowed me to accept your surrender of Nal Berfry as a
replacement of your debt.
DARTRUS
(angrily)
GIVE ME BACK MY DAUGHTER! I WILL NOT REPEAT MY REQUEST
Dartrus pointed his sword at Nordox’s head.
NORDOX
Our feud has not been settled, Dartrus.
DARTRUS
Last time, I but took away your humanity. This time i
take your head!
NORDOX
I’m afraid this time, it shall be I who will take
something from you.
Dartrus charged towards Nordox. He shot a black
orb at Dartrus and he got knocked back. His eyes
were black and idle as he stared into the sky
above.
NINAS
Dartrus!
NORDOX
I’m afraid my humanity only made me weaker, Dartrus.
Now you pay the price.
(facing Ninas and Velmina)
If you want to share the same fate as your patriarch, I
suggest you attack as well.
VALNOR
NO!
From the gates of Lupirsa ran Valnor Xeriandos. He
was holding a sort of shooter. He aimed at
Nordox’s head and fired the cannonball. It went
past Nordox’s head without as much as a scratch.

NORDOX
Silly boy! Who are you anyway.
VALNOR
I am Valnor Xeriandos from Belhimus and I know where
Nal Berfry is!
VELMINA
Don’t tell him you fool!
VALNOR
He’s in the depths of Mitrixis Canyon. The Morsal Coach
took him there along with the body of Mithilena Berfry.
NORDOX
If you are telling the truth, why did you feel the need
to shoot a cannonball at my head?
VALNOR
Well, to test if you truly are the Dark Servant of
Brohm and not the Dark Servant of some other Lord with
inferior Magicians.
NORDOX
You are smart, young Valnor, but if I discover your
lies, I will bring the Lord’s Cavalry to Belhimus and
wipe it off the face of Melsincci.
VALNOR
Fair enough. But let me assure you that day will not
come.
NORDOX
You have much courage. Very well.
Nordox walked towards the Richal Forest, leaving
Lupirsa unscathed and Dartrus Warhound III in a
trance on the floor.
VELMINA
You sacrificed your hometown, you idiot.
VALNOR
I planned it with the elders beforehand.
VELMINA
And what exactly is the plan?
VALNOR
They’ll simply seek refuge in Jorpollo, under the
protection of Jorpasso.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 16.
VELMINA
Oh, dear. I have to tell Parmina about this.
VALNOR
Wait, are you talking about Parmina Berfry?
Velmina had a slight hesitation in her eyes.
VELMINA
No... I am referring to my sister, Parmina Warhound.
Ninas kneeled next to Dartrus and sobbed.
VALNOS
I need as much help as I can get.
VELMINA
Is this an adventure?
VALNOS
Yes. I am going to search for the Sphere of Light.
Ninas stopped sobbing when she heard this.
NINAS
How do you know of the Sphere?
VALNOS
One of our Elders, Tomras the Wise, told me. It is the
only way to break past the Dark Servant of Brohm and
the only way to get back the children.
NINAS
Help me take my husband inside, then we’ll talk.
9 The Sphere of Light 9
Valnor, Velmina, and Ninas carry Dartrus upstairs
and to his room. They step back out
NINAS
Velmina, call Parmina. Tell her to go downstairs.
She’ll want to know what might happen to her homeland.
Velmina went to her room and got Velmina. Ninas
and Valnos walked downstairs and sat on the couch
in the living room.
NINAS
So, what do you know about the Sphere of Light?

CONTINUED: 17.
VALNOS
It was in the Battle of Asphixeles. Dartrus Warhound
III fought against Nordos of Narcinso. He was the
toughest opponent so Dartrus did the only thing he
could do and used his sword to strip him of humanity.
The sword was actually the Lumisen, the Sword of Light.
It follows the Point of View of its wielder. Since
Nordos was evil in Dartrus’ eyes, Dartrus could take
his humanity. What was left was otherworldly. No one
dared touch it. His humanity was trapped in the
Lumisen. Dartrus then cast it down to the depths of
Darsan Falls. Until Lord Brohm ordered his Magicians to
give Nordos his form. The otherworldly form he was in
became a humanoid figure but still devoid of any
humanity. As a tribute to Lord Brohm, he ordered the
magicians to carve the Brohm Seal onto his chest, with
all the pain. From then on, he was Nordox, Dark Servant
of Brohm.
NINAS
And what about the Sphere?
VALNOS
If you reunite the Sphere of Light with the Lumisen and
stab Nordox in the Seal of Brohm, the only part of
Nordox’s new body that has felt any pain over the
course of time, His humanity will be restored and the
form the magicians gave him would clash with his human
body, destroying him forever.
Valnos looked at the stairs and saw Velmina and
Parmina there.
PARMINA
Valnos, you’re here...
VALNOS
So she was lying. You are here.
VELMINA
Hey, I didn’t trust you then.
VALNOS
And now you do?
NINAS
Valnos...
VALNOS
Yes ma’am
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 18.
NINAS
Would you like to go after the Sphere.
VALNOS
Like I said earlier, that is why I went here. I need as
much help as possible. I have already asked Borsair
Berfry for permission to take his daughter on this
quest. I was hoping to ask for Dartrus the Great’s
assistance as well but I’m very sorry for what happened
to him. I was too late.
NINAS
It’s okay. Velmina!
VELMINA
Yes, Mom?
NINAS
Would you like to go with them?
VELMINA
Of course! I always want an adventure.
NINAS
Good, but you will need a map to Narcinso since Darsan
Falls leads there. We have no maps to the lands of
Narcinso since we longed to separate our minds from
that place since the Battle of Asphixeles but there’s
one person who still makes maps of Narcinso.
VALNOS
Who is that, ma’am?
NINAS
You will have to go all the way to the village of
Jingxa in Jorpasso to ask for the help of Proxos
Martodus the First. He is the only one in Melsincci
with maps to Narcinso.
VALNOR
Okay then. We set out tomorrow morning. As of now, we
rest and gather more supplies.
NINAS
The blacksmiths of this town can prepare a weapon in
under twenty-four hours. This is the Capital of Skill.
Go ask them for weapons.
VALNOR
Thank you ma’am.
Valnor walks towards the door just as Velmina
blocks him.

CONTINUED: 19.
VELMINA
Hey, sorry for awhile ago. I think we got off on the
wrong foot. I’m Velmina Warhound.
Velmina extended her arm.
VALNOS
It’s alright. I’m Valnos Xeriandos.
Valnos grabs Velmina’s hand and shakes it.
VALNOS
I see you and Parmina have met.
VELMINA
Yeah, Parmina and I agreed that she would be a Warhound
until Brohm gets his junk straightened out so, until
then, you might want to refer to her as Parmy Warhound.
VALNOS
Parmy? Haha... that’s what I used to call her in our
childhood.
PARMINA
Very funny, Valnos. Come on, let’s go to the
blacksmith.
The three depart the Warhound Residence and head
to the Blacksmith of Lupirsa.
