INITIATION AND BREAK IN

“How about you?” Austin asked Ernst.

“My mom said she’s on her way.”

     “Okay. Take care, buddy.”

“Aww… how sweet,” Nica said. “Janella, you might have competition!”

     “What?” Ernst asked scarily.

     “Never mind…” Nica said.

They headed to the front gate and met up with their savior.

     “Hold on,” the guard said.

“We’re with him,” Rica said, pointing at their savior.

“Sir, you do realize that you are responsible for these kids?”

     He nodded.

     “Okay.”

They all cheered as they went out. They put the things at the back. Austin and Alyssa put their guitars in there. Rica and Lui took the front. Austin opened the door for Janella.

“Thank you!” Marella said, going in before Janella.

“Very Much!” Alyssa said, also going in.

“Austin!” Janella said, finishing the sentence.

Austin just stood there for a while.

     “Austin?”

     “Yes?”

     “Any time soon?”

     “Oh, right, sorry.”

Austin went in and they had to squeeze a little.

“Oh, don’t worry about us! We’ll take the roof!” Nica said.

“That’s not a problem. I can stick us there,” Mo-on said.

“What do you mean by that?” Nica asked.

“I can manipulate gravity in a confined space or a large space. I can strengthen it, weaken it, even change its direction.”
     “Oh.”

“There’s one thing wrong with that,” Austin said. “When we get to the city, it will be very weird.”

“Right. Are you suggesting we should walk?” Nica said.

“I suggest you walk with us.”

Austin shot a beam in front of the car, creating a portal.

I hid the portal; we should end up in the motorpool.

They drove through the portal and Nica and Mo-on followed. Rica’s house was very near Seton in the city. They drove there and went in her house.

“You guys go ahead. I’ll talk.”

They said good afternoon to the people there as they went in one of the rooms.

Rica entered a few seconds later.

     “What should we watch?”

“You mean Video City?” Alyssa asked.

     “I still have my card.”

     “Well then, let’s go!”

“I’ll go with you!” Lui said.

“We should take Austin with us!” Alyssa suggested.

“Oh, right! You should!” Mo-on said. “He’s a veeery good guy to take to the video store.”

     “Sure! Why not?” Austin said.

“We’ll be back in a jiff. Don’t move a muscle.”

“Can I borrow your guitar?” Mo-on asked Austin.

     “Sure.”

     “Alyssa?” Nica asked.

     “Okay.”

     “Yay…”

Nica and Mo-on took out the guitar.

The four of them left as they heard Mo-on asking Nica to teach him.

They went in the car and they were driven to Video City. Austin looked around and didn’t find anything too good. They didn’t even have the original Nightmare on Elm Street but they had all the sequels.

“How about Inglourious Basterds?” Austin said.

     “You sure?” Lui asked.

“Nah, not a good party movie. How about Kick-A*s?”

“Oh, sure!” Alyssa said. Taking it from the shelf.

     “Zombieland?”

“Agreed,” Lui said as he took it.

“We need horror. Which Nightmare is the best?” Lui asked.

      “NIGHTMAAARE!” Rica and Alyssa sang.

“Oh, that song is awesome!” Austin said.

     “Umm... Okay. “

“To answer your question, the first one is the best. They don’t have it so maybe… hmm… Evil Dead… Evil Dead… crap, they don’t have it.”

“Let’s take the Exorcist: The Beginning.”

     “I don’t know about it…” Austin said.

     “It’s okay.”

“D****t! They really don’t have Evil Dead! Let’s settle for another Raimi flick, Drag Me to Hell.”

“You like that movie?” Rica asked.

“It’s okay. Evil Dead is superior though.”

     “Okay…”

They needed one more for the discount.

     “Just pick anything.”

They got a random movie off the shelf and paid for the VCD’s.

They stopped by a nearby 7-Eleven.

Meanwhile, Mo-on was learning from Nica.

“No not there! There,” she said, fixing his fingers.

     “Umm… okay… now what?”

     “Strum!”

Mo-on strummed the D major chord and was overjoyed.

     “OMAYGAD AYM SOPAKING AWESOME!”

     “High five!”

Mo-on gave Nica a high five.

“Okay, I’m gonna break your spirits. Let’s go to the F Major.”

“Why will that break my spirits?”

“Use your index finger to bar down all the strings on the first fret.”

     Mo-on tried this.

     “Now you know?” Nica asked.

     Mo-on grunted in frustration.

They looked around 7-Eleven for something.

“What are you gonna get?” Lui asked Austin.

     “Slurpee. Maybe two.”

     “Oh. I get it.”

“Of course you do,” he said as he took two 12 oz cups from the counter.

     “Blueberry or Lime?” Alyssa asked.

“I prefer Lime,” Austin said. “Don’t know about Janella though.”

     “Oh... that’s adorable.”

“Come on, it’s just a Slurpee.”

Austin filled up the two cups with the Lime flavored Slurpee.

He went to the counter and paid for it.

“Should we teleport back?” Rica asked. All of them had one Slurpee except for Austin.

“No, not here. I miss the tricycles anyway.”

They went inside the tricycles. Austin’s mom didn’t allow him to ride the back so he had to go inside. Alyssa went with him.

“Hey Alyssa, can I tell you something?”

     “Sure.”

     “I’m kinda sad right now.”

     “Why?”

“I feel like I’m losing her, ya know? I still love her as much as before but I fear it’s becoming… one-sided.”

     “Oh… Don’t worry, it’s not.”

     “How do you know?”

“Trust me. You two are fine.”

They arrived back at Rica’s house and Mo-on and Nica were playing guitar.

     “I can’t change that fast!” Mo-on said.

     “Practice. That’s all it takes.”

     “Janella, here you go.”

     Austin gave her a Slurpee.

     “Thanks…” she said awkwardly.

“Why is it that Janella’s the only one with a Slurpee?!” Nica asked violently.

     “Beca"“Austin began.

“Never mind, I get it,” Nica said teasingly.

     “How about lunch?” Mo-on asked.

“No worries, let’s order McDonalds,” Rica said. She grabbed the phone and got a piece of paper.

     “Alright, orders!”

They all told their orders as Rica wrote it down. She then dialed McDonalds.

“Hello! McDonald’s delivery. Can I have your phone number?”

Lui took charge and said Rica’s number.

“And may I have your name please?”

“Umm…” Lui said. He covered the receiver and asked.

     “We’re sophomores. Say Sophie!”

     “Hello?”

“Yes, I’m here. This is Sophie Santos,” Lui said in a feminine voice. He covered the receiver again, whispering, “My daughter.”

“Okay, umm. Miss Sophie. Do you have any relation with Miss Rica Singh?”

They all became quiet after this. Rica took the phone.

     “Umm. Yes, this is Rica.”

“May I have your address, ma'am?”

     She said their address.

     “And your order please?”

     Rica dictated the orders.

“Okay, please stay on the line.”

The hold music played. Austin frequently ordered at McDonalds and knew this wasn’t part of the routine.

“I order from McDonald’s a lot. This is not part of the routine; they supposed to ask ‘change for how much’ or something!”

     The dial tone then rang.

“D****t, let’s just go to McDonalds,” Rica said.

“Can we put in the movie?” Mo-on said.

     “Umm. Sure. Which one?”

“Drag Me TO Hell,” Austin coughed.

Rica put it in the player and played it. Mo-on was already terrified at the start. Rica went out to ask for a lift.

She went back in and everyone except for Austin, Nica, and Janella went along.

They watched the movie. The girls covering their eyes at the classic horror bits. Austin, however, just covered his ears.

“Austin, what are you doing?” Nica asked.

“Well, technically, covering your eyes causes more fear than if you just watch since your imagination runs wild. Sound scares more people than sight which makes covering your ears, the perfect way to avoid humiliating yourself whilst in a horror film.”

Nica and Janella just stared at him, mouths open.

“I’ll just say yes and go back to watching the mov"AHHHH!!!”

Something shocking just happened and both of the girls screamed at the top of their lungs. Austin was calm.

“See what I mean? You weren’t even looking at the movie.”

“I still don’t get it,” Nica said.

After a while of watching, Austin proving his theory repeatedly, enjoying the girls scream their hearts out, the food finally arrived. Austin’s custom order is five pieces Chicken nuggets and fries.

Mo-on reached for the nuggets but Austin evaded his hand.

“Fine, if you won’t give me, that’s fine.”

“Why don’t you give Janella?” Nica asked.

     “No, it’s fine,” she said.

Austin extended the nuggets to Janella. She refused further.

“Suit yourself. Fries?” Austin said, pulling back the nuggets and extending his fries.”

     “Come on!” Nica said.

“Thanks,” Janella said as she took.

“Thanks Austin!” Nica said as she took as well.

“What she said!” Mo-on said as he used his powers to draw a “French fry” towards him.

When they finished the movie, they put in Kick-A*s next.

Janella sat on the floor for this one. Austin invited her beside him, only to be refused. This worried him further.

During this, Mo-on took out the face paint they used earlier and they played around with it. Lui asked Austin to give him Joker make-up. He agreed. Lui did look like the Joker after Austin was done with him.

Mo-on wrote AJ on Austin’s wrist. He also borrowed a mirror and wrote “Mo-on” on his face but forgot that it was a mirror and wrote it backwards instead. To make up for it, he gave himself a moustache.

When the clock hit 4:00, Janella and Nica announced that they had to go.

     “What?”

“First reason, Nica promised her mom. Second reason, Marella also has to go with similar reasons to Nica. Third reason, Berna challenged me in a racing game and she said if I don’t show up by 4:30, she’ll take it as a forfeit.”

“Did Kyle turn into a psychopathic maniac and put his personality in a psychic orb which Berna absorbed? That doesn’t sound like Berna at all!” Nica said.

“Please don’t bring that up again,” Austin said.

“I know right? I mean about Berna not about not bringing it up again. But anyway, I beat her last week and she got mad. I gotta keep my record.”

     “Okay then<” Austin said sadly.

“Let’s walk them home, like the old days,” Alyssa suggested.

“Let’s take them to the motorpool,” Austin said. “I can teleport them elsewhere. We can walk like the old times and still get them there”

They did this, Austin borrowed Alyssa’s guitar (which was better. Besides, it had a strap) and they goofed off as they went back to the school.

They went to the motorpool and Austin made two portals, one for the hotel and one for the lodge at Woodridge.

Nica and Janella went in their respective portals as they walked back to Rica’s house.

When they arrived, Lui went to the bathroom.

“Hey, I have singing lessons at 5. Wanna go with?” Rica asked.

     “Sure,” Alyssa said.

     “Of course!” Mo-on said.

“Hey, Rica, am I a member of the Patola Family?” Austin asked.

     “Huh?”

“I mean I go with you guys a lot and talk to you guys  a lot and goof around with you guys, not a lot but enough to"

“Well, you’re sort of,” Alyssa said.

     “Wanna be?” Rica asked.

“Sure!” Austin said enthusiastically. He had a lot of friends in there and he enjoyed what time they had. This was a big plus in his happiness meter.

“You are now the ‘bunso’,” Rica said. It meant “youngest child”. After all, it was a family.

“Aww… I’m not the youngest anymore…’ Mo-on said. ‘Just kidding!”

“Guys, I went in the bathroom, right?” Lui said. “When I looked in the mirror, I scared myself.

They all laughed at this. Rica continued the movie.

After a while, Mo-on and Alyssa started to get more and more engaged in the movie. This was Austin’s eighth time watching it but it still pulled him in. Unfortunately, they had to stop it since it was singing lessons time.

They took the tricycle there and went in. Rica sang a few songs and it Austin was pleasantly surprised. He knew she sang but he didn’t know she was that good.

After this, Alyssa said she had to go. So did Lui. Lui said he’d handle them both since he had teleportation powers too.

On the way back, Austin told them a joke he got from the internet. This made them laugh pretty hard. When they arrived, they finished the movie and Mo-on loved it.

Rica also played her recording of the Sinulog Presentation. She got Sr. Anthony’s help. He was in charge of the Chamberwinds.

During the final transition from SC/SK’s performance to the batch dance, there was this guy pushing everyone out of his path. Mo-on revealed it to be him and they had a good laugh about it. Eventually, it was time to go.

While walking back to the school, Mo-on told Austin something.

“Hey, Austin. I gotta tell you something. Promise you won’t tell Janella, okay?”

     “Sure. What is it?”

“When you guys were out awhile ago, I successfully played the D major chord. My very first chord!”

“Good for you. Why shouldn’t Janella know that?”

“That wasn’t it. I just wanted to tell you. Anyway, we asked her if she still had a crush on you.”

This was what Austin was waiting for.

     “And?” he asked eagerly.

     “She said yes.”

     “YES!” he said triumphantly.

     “But…”

Austin then dropped into a state of depression but pulled himself back up enough to listen to the continuation.

“She feels it slipping away and it wasn’t as strong as it used to be. She claims that maybe it’s just because you’re not classmates anymore but, yeah that’s it.”

It has been a long time since Austin said that he loved her and to kick it lower, he never said it in person yet.

As they reached the school, Austin saw movement in the Mindanao Building.

“Hey, let’s check that out,” Austin said. Mo-on and he rushed to the Mindanao building. They found none other than Barrage and some other guy. This guy was massive.

     “Well hello there.”

“Barrage, how’s Decel?” Austin asked sympathetically.

“Oh, you actually care? Well, he’s dead but we put him to good use.”

Barrage took out a dart gun and aimed it at them. Austin used his psychic powers to grab it but to no avail.

“What’s wrong? Can’t pull it in?” Barrage said.

Barrage fired and Mo-on changed Austin’s gravitational orientation, putting him sideways.

“Momentum, handle that one,” Barrage said.

     “Yes sir.”

“Let me guess,” Austin said. “He’s the Juggernaut, B***h?”

“Well yes and no. If he builds momentum, he can’t be stopped, yes. Also, he already has super strength to begin with. Combine that with his gargantuan mass along with that heavy armor and he can build up a momentum of 1000 kg-m/s”

Austin changed his gravitational orientation back to normal.

Momentum charged for Mo-on. He removed gravity’s pull on him, slowing him down as he floated upwards.

“He’s pretty useless now, loser!” Mo-on said.

Barrage shot him with an explosion beam, knocking him out. Momentum dropped back to the ground.

Austin switched to Pyrokinesis and fired up his hands. He shot fire at Barrage but he countered with an explosion beam.

The fire beam was almost instantly overwhelmed as the explosions sent it back by a lot every time. Austin dodged the incoming explosion.

Momentum punched the ground, causing it to glow green. He then lifted up a large slab of the ground.

     “Goodbye, Austin.”

Barrage made another portal and Momentum went through it. Austin remembered Sean’s advice and used his Ghost powers. He turned invisible and headed straight for the portal. Barrage soon entered. And the portal closed.

It was a Base-like room only without the elevator. Momentum put the slab of stone in the corner. Barrage took his seat. Accel was seated there along with another woman.

“The prick was there along with his retard friend,” Barrage said. “He tried disabling Mark’s power by putting him in anti-gravity. I took care of him easily. Seriously, these guys think they have a chance.”

“He killed my little brother, Derek, I’m pretty sure they have a chance. We’re artificial! We try get fixed, we die!” Accel said.

“We only have a few steps to go. We just gotta get the blueprints for the S-21. Then we can finally get fixed.”

“But Derek, what about that other guy?” the unknown woman said.

“The Mastermind? What do I care about that mother****er?! He did this to us! If only I had the power right now, I’d slit his throat!”

“Calm down, Derek, the woman said.

“Erika, shut the hell up. That’s the last time he ruins my life, I’m taking control now.”

Barrage stood up and left the room.

“Scarlett, I have the money for Isaac’s funeral.”

“Thanks, sis, I appreciate your help.”

     “Wanna get to bed?”

“No thanks. I think I’ll go to the training room.”

     “Okay, take care.”

     Accel also left the room.

     “What do I do, Nelson?”

Momentum took off his armor and put in the display case.

“I don’t know either, Erika. Derek’s right but I don’t want to start a revolution. I’m doing this just so everything can go back normal.”

“I don’t know. I’m keeping it. It’s fun to spy around in that school of theirs.”

     “We talked about this before.”

“Don’t you know? Scarlett might be getting rid of hers and you might also be getting rid of yours but Derek, he’s going to keep it. Personally, I don’t trust him.

“The only reason I stick around this place is because of Scarlett. Derek and Scarlett have been fighting ever since she lost Isaac. Only Derek knows what he did to Isaac but he turned that slump of light into a corpse.  He’s a psycho!”

“He does care for Scarlett but Isaac’s loss also hurt him. He just won’t come to grips with this loss. You know Derek.”

“I don’t want to talk about Derek anymore. I’m gonna go out for a while. I’ve been in this place for three hours and I’m already bored.”

Erika stood up and went out. Austin went straight up until he got to the outside world. He found himself on the top of a building in a city.

He materialized himself and called Kyle.

     “Hello?”

     “Austin!”

“Look, I’m staying in Ghost mode just in case so I can’t use any of my other powers. I need you to track my current location and save it on your Identifier.”

     “Okay, hold on.”

Austin looked around and saw that it was an unfamiliar city.

“Austin, it looks like you’re in Japan. More specifically, Sakai, Osaka.”

“Okay, save that location. Make it very specific.”

     “Where are you anyway?”

“I followed Barrage through his Portal.”

     “Odd, he didn’t look Japanese.”

“No they’re not. You saved the location?”

     “Yup.”

“I’m teleporting there. I might get caught. Wait, I forgot about Mo-on.”

     “What?”

     “Talk to you later.”

Austin switched to Space Manipulation and teleported back the school.

     Mo-on was just sitting there.

     “Where were you?”

“I followed those two through the portal. It’s a really screwed up family, I guess. Let’s get back to the hotel. Tenth floor, right?”

     “Yup.”

Austin dropped him off at the tenth floor and teleported to Kyle’s suite.

     “Dude!”

“Alright, I followed him through the portal and it was way screwed up. I think Barrage is Accel’s boyfriend.”

     “They had no chemistry.”

“There was this new guy, Momentum. He can build up great momentum, can’t be stopped after. He has super strength and heavy armor. Momentum is mass times velocity so that’s a lot.”

     “That’s bad.”

“Mo-on found his weakness, though. Anti-gravity.”

     “Who’s Mo-on?”

“A friend of mine. Anyway, they’re not Japanese, they’re Filipinos. From what I understood, the Mastermind gave them their powers using the prototype Dome John tried making. It looks like they were trying to make a new Dome so they can fix their severely screwed up genes and get themselves back to normal or something. “

“So they’re not with the Mastermind?”

“Barrage wants to slit the guy’s throat so no, they’re not with the Mastermind.”

“What else did you find out?”

     “We have another inside man.”

     “What?!”

“Inside woman actually. Accel’s sister was there. She mentioned that it was fun to sneak around the school.”

“Oh not again. Did you make any new friends?”

“A few but that’s beside the point. We have more time to find this inside man now. We have to stop them before it’s too late.”

“Stop them? They only want to go back to normal. Maybe we should help them.”

“I stayed after Barrage left. They talked about how crazy and unstable he was.”

     “So?”

“I think he might be trying to take over the Mastermind’s place. He mentioned something about taking control. I don’t know. I’m very confused.”

“I think you need to rest.”

“Well, I do have good news for you.”

     “What?”

“I’m in the Patola family. Hello, brother!”

     “REALLY?!”
     “Yes.”

     “Nice. Anyway, good night.”

“Good night bro. Oh yeah, did you do something to your girlfriend… or something? She just challenged Janella to a racing match on their Xbox.”

“Really? Well maybe Janella beat her too much.”

     “That’s my girl.”

“Hey, wait a second! She is not my girlfr"

    “Good night, Kyle!”

Austin walked out of Kyle’s suite and went to his. He lay down on his bed and thought about what he witnessed. It made him sad a little and rewound back to before they saw Barrage and Momentum.

This made him sadder because Janella was slipping away. Austin now knew and he was not going to let it happen.
