Seven Sunsets

Seven Sunsets

A Poem by RA Fernandez
"

Dedicated to my friend, Pat. "I wish you had trusted me."

"
Light beckoned me to follow the path
Under the thin pale tree that greeted me each morning.
Crimson skies above me tell me the day is almost gone.
Your voice tells me my pain need not hold on,
"But no," I say, "I must leave, for now, my friend."
As I have grown attached to this place I call home.
"Ere I leave, welcome me back after seven sunsets," said I
"No problem," said she, as I took my leave.
Return I did, seven sunsets hence, to a locked door and
Exist in solitude, I did, as the seventh sunset was the last I ever saw.

Sounds like this poem is about a child who only lived 7 days and is giving her parents permission to let go.

Either way beautifully written.
