Lost Art

Lost Art

A Poem by Poe's Apprentice
"

Less of a downer than some of my other stuff but still one of my favorite poems.

"

Beethoven’s 9th was brilliant

but his 10th was pure genius.

he never got it written,

but I’m sure that it was great.

Einstein’s final equation

that explained life as a whole,

was too much for him to handle

so he died with it in mind.

And Hitchcock’s final thriller?

well it won him twenty Oscars,

or it would have I’m sure,

had he not scared himself to death.

So many things we could have seen,

but what we did should suffice

to make us proud to live

and content that it will end.

For every one must face

the gates of heaven or hell

and know that they had more,

but some secrets are for God.

Accept that you gave your best,

as Newton did when he remembered,

his fourth law while he lay dying,

able only to tell the angels the truth.

So when you reach your deathbed,

do not doubt you did enough

and that you will get to listen soon

to Beethoven’s 10th symphony.

This, is, genius!!!! I loved how you've put your quiet ponderings of life into a poem. This is truly amazing.

The first stanza of your poem really hooked me--I love Beethoven. The flow is great too. I think this is very original and inspiring. Very nice :)
