An Endless Voyage

An Endless Voyage

A Poem by Poe's Apprentice
"

Just something I wrote and discovered I was happy with...

"

We find, as we grow old,

our hopes become lucid

amidst our fluid dreams

just as a ship sees shore.

A perpetual motion surrounds,

defined by impossible and

unobtainable shapes that shift,

from crest to crest forever.

As with the great expanse,

one can learn to master

the skills needed to live

amidst an ever changing sea.

One cannot fight

against the stubborn waves,

only learn to rise above

and reach the distant land.

Mortal sailors beware,

unseen reef or bar,

storms and hurricanes,

all seek to send you down.

They wish to push you

to join their depths of dark

where they can possess you

and keep you from your life.

There is no guarantee,

no contract can be signed,

to assure you of your destination

or tell you that you will obtain it.

All that can be promised,

by life and its constant path,

is a chance, if you take it,

to reach the farthest horizons.
