The Gorge Beneath Me

The Gorge Beneath Me

A Poem by Sirajudin Matin

As the earth breaks beneath my feet,
My world is split,
Torn in two separate halves,
From which I must decide,
Whom do I love more?

I begin to fall as the chasm widens,
What have I done?
Burdened with the pain of choosing,
My hands fly out in desperation,
But the crust on which my fingers grip,
Remain to me unknown,

Yet clear as day,
This abyss echoes"
With the decision of my dismay.
