Like a Fire

Like a Fire

A Poem by QuirkyPanda

Love is like a fire.
Some are small, ignited wicks,
Shedding a speck of light,
But then the wind of life
Swoops in and smothers the budding flame.
Beware the love of a raging fire.
This fervent fire is chaotic and wild,
Passionate.
But when you meddle with such a flame,
You will always, always get burned.
Yes, this form of inferno is enticing, exciting, mesmerizing,
With life’s breeze billowing and blowing,
Causing this flare to grow and grow until it’s too much.
But, you’ll keep getting burned and burned
Until the lesson is learned
and walked away.
Search for the smoldering embers of love.
While not nearly as bright or lush,
It’s still warm, persistent, and strong
And can last forever,
With the wind tending to it,
Keeping it alive, but never raging wild.
This kind of love warms the soul
And lasts forever.

A wonderful piece of ink, taking us into the extremes of love and then back to the calm road of peaceful and harmonious love. While a jump or lick of flame here or there may not be a bad thing. I would agree with you that to maintain the warmth capable of the most happiness, a nice even flowing pace is far wiser. But as with all life... even calm must be sipped in moderation.

Great Ink! Thanks for sharing!

Nice and sensible piece for the masses to contemplate...
That being said, the child in me will always follow the rage first and foremost. The uncontrollable wildfire leads to adventure and experience, and separates from average...The trick is trying to calm and contain the wild to be constant and more reliable.
Perfect analogy.

While we always play with smoldering fire, perhaps the temptation is too strong. We all want the lasting love you described. Thanks for sharing
