My Stable Mate

My Stable Mate

A Poem by Quin

My Stable Mate

Across the bar our eyes did meet,
That lasting stare my heart did beat.
I broke a smile you broke one too,
So I'm writing this poem and its all for you.
You came over all cocky a true-to-form lad,
But there was something there that made you not bad.
You called me Hollywood because of my smile,
My heart was still racing it took me a while.
Maybe it was age I'm beyond my years,
Maybe it was fear of fitting with your peers.
But we started something label as you see fit,
It was special, unique, how yet different we knit.
It wasn't plain sailing I fought for my spot,
I'm trying not to regret it - it's taking a lot.
So many memories and laughter as well,
Now four years wasted I'm going through hell.
So many questions- Was it you? Was it me?
So many obvious' I just didn't see.
Like your big day - boy I was so proud,
But I wasn't invited - was I not allowed?
I thought you were mine as I was always yours,
Now you've pushed me away with your lies and closed doors.
The loneliness bites me and I miss you so much,
All the pain could be gone with a single touch.
You were not just my lover you were meant to be my friend,
Oh the pain rips right through me but I know it will end.
I'm being so strong without you there,
Spurred on by knowing you don't really care.
My guard is up tight I can't let you back in,
I will get over you and that'll be my win.
For all that I am, all the love on this earth,
I won't touch you again as I now know my worth.
Whatever we were I thought it was perfection,
Instead my hearts broken...

Torn with rejection.
