The Dance

The Dance

A Poem by Quiet Waters Rise
"

Have you ever let the music seep into your soul, and follow it's plea when you are alone?

"

The house is quiet

She is all alone

The lights are dim

And the music is down low

Here in her solitude

There is nobody to care

She’s a world away from

All their whispers and stares

So she reaches into her heart

And she sets herself free

Becoming one with the music

Flowing into its sea

She breathes in its beauty

As it seeps into her soul -

Feeling its magic

With each sway & each flow

For one fleeting moment

It’s only her and the dance

A joining between music and self

in this moment of solitary romance

Brilliant portrait of a woman releasing in solitary to the sounds of music.. in this case it is setting her free! Music can set many moods .. when needed.. but definitely can soothe the soul after a hard days work.. or anytime you wish.. love the sensuous feel and flow of this one.. the rhyme and rhythm are great.. Loved your ending:

For one fleeting moment
It's only her and the dance
A joining between music and self
in this moment of solitary romance

This is a necessary part of my day.. at some point.. any point but I need time to myself.. to wind down.. feel the rhythm and flow of music! It's a personal escape.. a place where no one exists other than myself.. I reflect or just lose myself in the music itself and feel truly free! The impact I feel is due to the type of music I listen to.. it is upbeat.. lyrics are also important to me. Thank you so much for sharing! =)

This is lovely--I especially love the idea of the "solitary romance" between the individual and music.
I am curious as to the poetic form here--would you class this as a sonnet? The stanzas and the rhyme scheme suggested a traditional sonnet, but without iambs. The rhythm/anti-rhythm of your lines gave the poem itself a very distinct lyrical quality.
My only critique would be in stanza four. I am not completely sold on the description of the music as a 'sea'--it works very well with the stanza's flow on the whole, but the phrase itself feels kind of awkward to me.
On the whole, a really good piece of work. I look forward to reading more of your stuff!

Where would we be without music and a chance every now and then to get lost in it? Beautifully done!
