The Man I Once Knew..

The Man I Once Knew..

A Poem by QuietPoet
"

ever have someone drift away from you..

"

The Man I Once Knew..

When we first met

You would whip my tears away

Now, you just roll your eyes

And just let me cry..

In the beginning

I could run to you about anything

Now, it’s a fight every time

And you push me away..

The man I once knew,

Would catch me when I fell

Now, you just let me fall

And it hurts..

I just ask myself,

What changed?

Marriage? Babies?

That should of made us happier..

Two years ago,

I didn’t think I’d be here

Sitting in front of this screen

Crying over how you’ve become..

My heart keeps breaking

And what hurts the most

Is I know the babies feel it

Every bit of my hurt..

I love you so much

I’m still with you

I just thought things would be different

Maybe it will be..

Ach, tis a sad read on how we change. Life is a peculiar experience. Hope, love, happiness, disillusion, despair, resignation all too often. It just chews us up. But we come through these tests and find new aspects to it beyond the pain and disappointment ~ with a little luck and perseverence.
