Be Who You AreA Poem by QuietPoetThis is for a friend. She is gay and her mother doesnt accept it, so I wrote it for her.Be Who You Are I listen to your heart bleed You tried to hide it But I see right through you I know you cry yourself to sleep Just wanting to be accepted For who you truly are But you can’t, not even under your own roof If your family doesn’t accept you Then theirs no hope that anyone will It shouldn’t matter what size you are, Who you love, man or woman Rich, middle, or poor Or not good looking, your beautiful People just want to be worth the time We search for reasons to be alive And I see plenty of reasons for you to be Just because you like your own kind Doesn’t make you a bad person No one should judge for being yourself Its better than keeping it inside If you don’t release it, it’ll kill you And theirs plenty of people out there Just like you, me, him, and her Find the inner you And let it out every way possible Spread the word who you are Scream it as loud as you can And enjoy being you © 2010 QuietPoetReviews
