Once Hurt, I'm Gone

Once Hurt, I'm Gone

A Poem by QuietPoet

Once Hurt, I’m Gone

She looked at me

As I sat on her bed

Looking down at the sheets

Playing with my fingers

Talking about life

She lets me know

That I am a strong woman

And I keep whatever

I’m going through inside

I don’t ever let anything out

No emotion, no tears, no hurt

Little does she know, I do..

She looks into my eyes

And tells me

That I can always come to her

No matter what it is, she’s there

I looked away, as a tear formed

And she didn’t notice

I said to her that
I deal with things my own way

My emotions don’t come out

Around all of you

Its just the person I’ve become

You’ll always see the strong side, never the weak

I’ve always been that way, always will be

She sighed as I told her

I looked back down to the sheets

She asked me about what happened

To the guy that cheated on me

And how I dealt with it

I told her I didn’t cry, once

Its just his loss

She looked at me, again

She told me, that she notices

Whenever someone hurts me

I’m gone, the moment they do

She couldn’t describe me any better then that

And she has seen that over and over again

I looked up at her

I’m okay, mom..

I promise.

I Really like this! I did not expect her to be talking to her mother,I actually thought it was lesbian couple, but this is better. Cos it's got that twist factor. Thank you, That's a brilliant poem! x

i enjoyed reading this. i never really figured out that she was talking to her mom. actually, i first thought that the one speaking was a boy until the part where her mom asked her about the guy who cheated on her. anyway, good job. i like it. :)

There's another use for a pillow. It's written really small on the label, and you have to get really close to see it... A very touching piece that has the power to reach into the heart.
Yes, we all have a certain built in instinct for dealing with things that hurt us. Like a cliff. Most stay away to prevent falling off. Others keep taking chances until they do fall off. Some, simply take climbing gear and gradually work their way down the face of the very thing that can hurt them reaching the ground safely... Magnificent piece.
