We fight, But Lose..

Life is hard. But family is suppose to be there to help.. Not put us down....

We fight, But Lose..
We had family and friends over
Having a good time
Celebrating my grandma’s birthday
Until it leaded to an argument..
It all started at the dinner table
Someone brought up politics..
I’ve always told people
To NEVER bring that subject up…
Everyone has different opinions
And it always ends up a fight..
Then they brought up the economy
BIG mistake…
I wasn’t into the conversation
Because I knew I wouldn’t like what was said
I just found out later and I knew I would..
Apparently, my grandpa said that
My parents should just be happy
For what we got in life..
While my grandparents have
All this money tucked away
Living with no worry about going broke…
They don’t stress about paying bills..
If they can even pay them for that month..
WE DO! We struggle everyday.
I don’t feel a bit sorry for you
Until you come and walk a day in our shoes..
We fight everyday to make it
We are thankful for what we have
But scared of one day we will wake up
And lose everything we have..
I think there was a reason
Why I wasn’t apart of that conversation..
I would have blown up in all their faces
I try so hard to keep up with my bills
And at the end of the month
I’m left with just a few dollar bills..
And I got another college bill coming…
My parents are on the thin line
Of going broke and losing everything
Its hard living the way we live..
If they only could see and understand
They would realize its not easy..

Honey, you're in the same boat with all the rest of us. We all fight but we lose. What matters is that we keep fighting and we never give up. Living paycheck to paycheck is scary. I do it every month. But the point is, I'm doing it and so are you and so are your folks. That is what you should be proud of. You and they work hard for all you have. THat's why you appreciate it so much more.

No doubt religion and politics are two subjects that are bound to bring up differences... it is too bad when adults can't realize they can disagree without it becoming personal... I understand your frustration too as ost of us seem to be going through it.

You are right, no one can judge or tell you or your parents anything until they walked in their shoes, I think you wrote one day that you dad worked until 3 AM, thats a man that work hard for his family.
