Vegas Girl

Vegas Girl

A Poem by QuietPoet
"

Dont judge me because im from Vegas... I'm different.

"

Vegas Girl

People ask me where I’m from

And I say from Vegas,

They always give me this look

Like I’m nothing but trouble..

Already judging who I am

They don’t know the real me

Just have it known in their minds

That I am a party girl

Thinking I run around screwing every guy here..

Striping for money, doing drugs, drinking

And my personal favorite,

“No Future”..

But all I do is laugh and say

I’m none of those things..

I have a future..

And I know most girls here

Can’t say they graduated college..

And that they love their family

And found a man that treats them right..

But this Vegas Girl can.

I’m different from all the rest..

Because my parents raised me right

And I chose to be the way I am,

To have a good life,

And have a family of my own someday

And raise them the way I was raised

I’m only 20,

But I have learned a lot of lessons from my mistakes..

I enjoyed this piece. You write such conversational poetry. I feel like a bystander to a conversation you are having with the world. Great write.

Oh yes you did. I can truely say you are diffrent, you are special girl no matter where you come from. people think like that on anybody , about blacks, about other poor people about blonds. I never think thats what is important, to know the person first without judging its what I try to do ... and since I know you, I know you are diffrent, don't change . great poem Yossi

Ah... sin city. So many people say "I wish i lived there" but they don't understand the stigma that goes with it.

People always assume the worst, and partially that is TV's fault. Vegas is supposed to be this horrible city filled with sex, drugs, gambling, etc... but they forget that is only ONE part of a larger place.

I am glad you have accomplished all that you have, be proud of your goals, and hold your head up high. You have made something of yourself and no one can take that away. No one!

The pride you put in this poem should shine through, because you deserve every happiness.
