More Precious Than Gold

More Precious Than Gold

A Poem by C.M. Dakota (Ky)
"

An intriguing twist on a fairy tale.

"
Her hair is pure as midnight,
Her lips are soft as rose.
Her eyes they shine like diamonds,
And like the stars she glows.

Me, I am the dragon,
Curled around her tower.
I protect my Sleeping Beauty,
Every midnight hour.

Knights may try to take her,
But they don't see she's mine.
I'll devour them before they realize,
And each one tastes devine.

I whisper in her ear,
With my breath of fire.
She loves that I adore her,
She revels in the fear I inspire.

Much different from the tales of old,
Our love it shouldn't be.
But as long as I'm a dragon,
Sleeping Beauty belongs to me.
