A Kid's Eyes

A Kid's Eyes

A Poem by Que

No one listens to the words of a kid

We’re all expected to roll over for someone older

Expected to see ourselves omniscient

Well let me tell you a little something

We aren’t all that slow

And we aren’t all that bright

Give us a chance to prove ourselves and we’ll show you

We’ll show you we’re just like you

Some of us do well, get paid well

Some of us have a gene that lets us relax

We even have those of us who give up

No one ever listens to the words of a kid

We’re all expected to roll over for someone older

Expected to see ourselves omniscient

Can’t say adults don’t roll over

Can’t say adults don’t get ignored

Can say this though; you think yourself omniscient

When looking in the eyes of a kid
