Mud Pie

Mud Pie

A Poem by QuayvonS

The rich chocolatey mousse that I want to rub my fingers through,

Your smooth airy delicate brown hair.

The sweetness of the ice cream melting in my mouth,

Your words gave me cavities of pure adrenaline.

The thin drizzle of caramel adds depth in the dessert and a slight saltiness,

I find that strangely delectable.

Our arguments as caramel candies were hard to chew at first,

but smooth and rewarding later.

Crumbles of chocolate and vanilla cookies support this mountain of a pie.

Crumbles of your past, my past, our present, our future condensed,

in one solid crust.

I would pick from my abundant rose bush everyday for you.

Plucking a rose everyday and dethorning it by hand for you.

On each petal I would craft a word that describes you;

Charming, sweet, silly, concerned, insecure, passionate, small bladder.

Each layer of petals would have words riper than before.

Caring, rejuvenating, exhilarating, mine.

I loved you like our lungs loves air.

Even if it took a punch in the stomach to realize it sometime.

I am so grateful I can catch my breath and now sigh, "I've known love."

The "mite" to my "dyno," the "us" in gust for you simply blew me away.

The blood dripping down my fingers from paper cuts after reading over the letters,

again for the thousandth time and two thousand more to come.

My heart drums with Popsicle sticks to the beat of yours for you melted my doubts,

You have my heart

I knew you would be gentle.

Give me the benefit of the doubt when I testified, "Babe, damn you're sexy!"

For I meant so much more that words couldn't describe,

Something I could try to explain for decades, but that still wouldn’t suffice my feelings for you.

Each day an arsenal of poems and presents that could be hit and miss,

Or I could say it all with just one kiss.

I could spend every second of every minute of every hour of every day and yet,

I long for the reassurance you gifted me every time our eyes met.

Looking at our pictures, replaying and reminiscing over the memories happily I breathe,

You, and only you were my first Mud Pie.
