[The Awakening: "The foamy wavelets curled up to her white feet, and coiled like serpents about her ankles. She walked out. The water was chill, but she walked on. The water was deep . . ."]

I have the impression that Edna is romanticizing suicide by drowning, and the two unlike bodies colliding. Hence why I believe the sea is her lover, and she is looking upon it with admiration and amazement . . . You've adorned this piece so magnificently; it has that Edgar Allen Poe vibe to it (Anabel Lee) but with a twist: Anabel died accidentally (as far as we know) but the clues laid by your pen indicate to intentional death . . . Well done!
This is so deep I don't really know how to put my own thoughts into words. Is Edna one of those Greek Gods? Is the Awakening a good book sounds interesting? But wonderful piece written here I just wish I had more to say about it, I sense a hint of longing and sadness. Very beautiful.
Wow, this gave me the chills. reminded me of how Ophelia in Hamlet died

i liked the sad overtones, heart-breaking- and the choice of image especially 'whale songs', 'gilded skeleton' and 'numeric Maelstroms'. this is a chilling poem, the type that stays with you long after you've read it. if we walk out to sea it is sink or swim and for those that choose to sink there is no happy ending only the relentless waves churning and the wind........ a powerful, emotionally-charged poem. fantastic.
