Jerome knew something was wrong... He sat in the direct center of the ice raft and concentrated. It was melting faster than usual. He concentrated on keeping it at its size. As they approached land (Eeta, Jerome, and Ky) Jerome had to concentrate extremely hard to keep the ice block ice. He was drenched in sweat as the time passed. He had been going about 10 hours, breathing heavily, Ky learned why it was so hard for him. "Jerome, we've drifted into volcanic waters, The Volcanic Archipelago."
Jerome gritted his teeth, it was only going to get worse and he knew it, Fire Brands weren't too nice to Ocean Roar or Nature's Kiss. He let out his breath and jumped up. Without his help, the raft was shrinking at an incredible rate, he blasted a wave from behind them and turned the ice block into a motor boat. Eeta held onto Ky's wrist and Ky's hand began turning purple.
Jerome's concentrated hold on the wave that was carrying them was broken when Ky had to grab onto him to keep them on the raft with him. Land was still a good distance away. Ky screamed as the wave began to collapse, but Jerome was already gone, out cold from exhaustion. Ky dug her left hand, the one still normal colored, into his neck. Nothing fatal, but he was revitalized for a second. Jerome jumped and blasted himself forward through the falling wave, sending them skidding towards land with Jerome as a dead weight and surfboard for Ky and Eeta.
Eeta was the first awake, around midnight or so with a sliver of a moon. Something wasn't right, for one she was alive, two she was on land, and three, she was picking up a good dream with all of her senses. Her natural senses all said that she felt like a ragged piece of parchment, tattered and torn, but she had a sixth sense for dreams. Weakly, Eeta slithered towards the dreamer and followed the trail.
Eventually she found a small shelter, no definite walls, but a ceiling, of overhanding branches just into the forest of ash trees near where they washed up. There was a tall brunette with stunning green eyes and soft, kinda features, leaning over Ky and half asleep, he must have been looking over her for hours before and still as Eeta came by. The boy or man, he was old and strong, at his prime, but looked young,. He began to re wrap Ky's right hand, the one Eeta had turned purple when they almost drowned. It had a huge gash in it.
After he finished wrapping Ky, he sat against the wall and fell asleep instantly Eeta was already on his arm and in her own race's way, benefiting from his dream.
Ky got up slowly, sunlight warming her from a hole in the canopy. She blinked the sleep from her eyes, and a huge growl sounded around her. She jumped onto all fours and fell as her injured hand couldn't support her. The growl sounded again and she realized, it was her stomach and so she began helping herself to the mans food stores, but she had no clue the man existed. Eeta woke up then, moments before the man, and slithered out of the man's sleeve, she stretched the sleeve more than she remembered last she did when getting in. Eeta moved towards Ky, she was stuffing her face still, all with her left hand. Eeta was surprised that she missed her loud chewing and eating. Eeta and Ky heard a fire ignite from behind them. Eeta could see out of the corner of one of her eyes that the man she'd just benefited from was holding two blue-green fire balls with orange outer edges.
With snake-like reflexes, Eeta dashed out in a blur of movement. Dream snakes weren't severely harmed by fire, but she wasn't going to chance it and see how much this guy could blast her with. She was afraid as he blasted the two fire balls after her. narrowly dodging them, Eeta was gone as Ky screamed through a mouthful of food, "Don't 'urt 'er!" Ky jumped up and into the way before he could get another fire ball.
The man pulled back and the fires disappeared. "That snake was about to eat you!"
As they argued about whether or not the snake was a threat, the snake, Eeta, was out of there, going as fast as she could slither, and searched for Jerome, she knew he'd protect her. "Jerome?! Where are you?!" She searched for him frantically, all over the beach. When she was almost past the point of desperate, she looked in a tree bark canoe on the shore. He was inside, she couldn't see his chest rise or fall, the breathing motion, she couldn't see anything. After a long second as it dawned on her, Eeta said quietly, "He gave himself for us...."
