My umi says

My umi says

A Poem by Quaddeth
"

We should all live in our own minds, and turn our guns towards those that do not. For those of you wondering.

"

And there I held it.

To my temple,

Indefinitely I alit,

Spontaneously simple.

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

They say we only have one life,

We must live it their way,

But I would rather knife

Away what they say,

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

Blades are useless,

Do not mistake my words,

For it is words that we must caress,

If we’re to relive the freedom of birds.

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

So it remained, pressed against my head,

The tip dictated to them, empowering me,

But it is not power I want, or a shrapnel of lead,

You see the object speaks, so boldly, so boldly,

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

At first glance its homicidal, suicidal,

You mistake my whim young man,

Understandable in your bubble,

Hugged by your tender-loving-fickle clan,

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

This gun is biological,

Its not pointed at me,

Its pointed at your bubbles mural,

That hangs the picture of an ideal society.

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

The picture hangs inside my mind,

Hung on a sturdy noose,

But your opinion depends on time,

Your asleep in the caboose.

My Umi says shine your light on the world.

You see my friends, live individually,

Read not into what others do,

The brain of those who do not walks briskly,

Into a grey nothingness, a dreary life, so very long overdue,

My Umi says shine your light on the world, shine it on your existence to.

Author's Note

Quaddeth
FYI; for those wondering what Umi means, i'll save you the trip to google, its arabic for mother, a bit of culture and context is always nice in poetry. This poem is another of my socialogical pieces for those that know my work. The object held to the protagonists head is a finger as well if you were interested.

If we listen to our mother's. The world would be a better place. The people who suffer for the hate and violence of men are the children and woman. I had 5,000 dead Iraq Soldiers(Frozen and stored, waiting for the Iraq Government to accept them.) waiting for someone to want them after the battle of Death valley. I was very sad. All the people they left at home and did not know what happen to the men. Umi is right. Men need seek the light on this world. Death in 5,000 years did very little. A outstanding poem. Thank you

"At first glance its homicidal, suicidal,"
THAT WAS MY FAVORITE PART...
BUT...
THE WHOLE THING WAS BEAUTIFUL...
I LOVE THAT YOU PUT...
UMI...
INSTEAD OF MOTHER...
I'M PART LEBONESE...
AND OUR LANGUAGE IS ARABIC...
SO I THOUGHT THAT WAS GREAT...
IT KIND OF BRINGS A UNIVERSAL MEANING...
WHEN YOU BRING THE SLIGHTEST...
DIFFERENCE OF CULTURE IN A POEN...
BEAUTIFUL...

interesting ~ our thinking , what we define ourselves by , is started at young age , with parents being the major influence . as society and social circles get there chances to influence , we find out how strong our own belief in ourselves , how strong our thinking is. against contrast we further define ourself .
"on your existence" i like to think of it as my experience ..

Have you read Khalil Gibran? This write of yours has shades of his words. He almost writes like this (Well, not the refrain, the quatrains). I didn't get the "Bubbles mural" expression.

"Blades are useless,
Do not mistake my words,
For it is words that we must caress,
If we’re to relive the freedom of birds."

is the best stanza. Has lots of hidden meaning in it, even if you didn't suppose :D

A very neat and enigmatic write, I'd say :) Keep writing.

PS. A little typo in the last line, last word :)
