Weird Times in Oscars High School Daze Act 1

Opens With

ACT I

 

INT. MCHALE HOUSEHOLD BATHROOM �" EARLY MORNING

 

Jessica and Lucas are in the bathroom getting ready for school.

 

Jessica:

You’re joking?

 

Lucas:

No, I have never been to an actual school before. I was home schooled since as far as I can remind.

 

Jessica grabs the hair brush and begins brushing her hair as Lucas fixes his collar.

Jessica:

This is really your first day of high school.

 

Lucas:

(nods)

Actually this is my first day of school period.

 

Ashley walks through the door. She pushed Lucas out of the way as she looks in the mirror.

Ashley:

Don’t worry if anything goes wrong you can always throw someone through wall.

 

Lucas chuckles as he continues getting ready.

 

Anna (O.S):

Guys, if you don’t hurry up. You’re going to be later to school.

 

Ashley:

We can’t do that or we’ll get a lecture from Ed.

Jessica:

How long have you guys been together?

 

Ashley:

Woo, we are not together. We just watch each other’s back like we are going to watching little Luke’s back to make sure he doesn’t hang out with the wrong crowd.

 

Luke:

I don’t need you guys to watch my back. I am perfectly capable to take care of myself. After all I survived seven years on my own.

 

Jessica:

Awwww, Lucas you have so much to learn. High school is a total different world. You are going to need us.

 

Lucas:

No, I’ll won’t.

 

Edwin enters the bathroom.

Edwin:

Ladies and gentleman, we have already missed the real first day to school. We cannot be late for school so hurry the hell up.

 

Ashley:

Fine, just let me put the finish my little touches.

 

Edwin:

Fine!

 

Edwin walks out with Lucas following him. Ashley and Jessica continue getting ready. They head to downstairs to the kitchen where Anna is cooking breakfast.

Anna:

Good morning, all. I was going cook you some pancake, but it seem you’re going to have to deal with bowel of cereal.

 

Edwin:

Fine with me I could use an easy meal.

 

Lucas:

I’m not really hungry.

 

Anna:

Awwww you’re nervous.

 

Lucas:

No, I have nothing to be nervous about.

 

EXT. PATTERSON �" EARLY MORNING

 

Amanda is in her room looking into the mirror at herself. She enters a flashback to when she and Lucas kissed.  There is a knock on her door. She jumps a little and turns around.

 

Amanda:

Come on in.

 

Charles opens the door, and leans on the doorway.

 

Charles:

Your mom wants me to ask if you are okay. She said you were acting kind of funny last night.

 

Amanda:

Yeah, everything is fine.

 

There is a short awkward silent.

 

Charles:

Are you sure? You know you can tell me anything?

 

Amanda:

Of course, nothing is wrong.

 

She puts on a plastic smile.

Amanda:

Now, I have to get to school before all the good parking spot are gone.

 

She walks out of the room leaving her father in her room. He sighs as he looks at her closet where there is an old dusty guitar. He walks over and picks it up.

 

EXT. PATTERSON APARTMENT �" 7YEARS AGE SNOWY NIGHT

 

In the ballroom of the Grand Central Hotel, there is a party with people sitting at table, talking to each other, or eating. Little Amanda is sitting at a table alone staring at a group of kids talking to each other and having fun. She sighs.

 

 

 

Lily (O.S):

Reed and Sarah, you made it and you brought Andrew and Lucas. How nice.

 

Amanda quickly turns her head to see the Cain family.

 

Reed and Sarah Cain are standing near the door while Lucas and Andrew are standing in front of their parents. Lucas immediately looks at Amanda and smiles. He is holding a wrapped up present. The box is huge.

Sarah:

You think we would miss this Patterson Christmas party is always our favorite event.

 

Reed:

Lucas, why don’t you go give your present to Amanda?

 

Lucas nods his head and starts walking toward her as Andrew starts heading towards other table. Amanda gets up as Lucas is standing in front of her. Amanda smiles as she looks at the box.

 

Lucas:

Merry Christmas

 

He places the box on the table and Amanda quickly unwrap it. Then she opens the box to reveals a fine wooden guitar. She almost cries as she rushed Lucas for a hug. Lucas smiles as he embraces her.

 

 

INT. OSCARS HIGH SCHOOL

Students are walking through the hallway. Some are whispering and have shocked face expression as they are hearing bad news. Angel is putting her stuff in her locker when Max walks up.

 

Max:

Do you think I should ask Amanda?

 

Angel:

Sure, if you like being rejected or wasting your money on a bad date.

 

Max:

What you think she will go out with Marcus?

 

 

 

Angel:

Marcus? I don’t think so. I think she’s more into dark tortured guys.

 

Max:

That sounds like your kind of guy not Amanda’s. I think I should. I’m going to do it.

 

He starts walking down the hall.

 

Angel:

Okay, but don’t say anything when you crash and burn.

(closes her locker)

 

Across the hallway, Ashley and Jessica walk through the door and to Ashley’s locker. Ashley opens her locker as Jessica looks around.

Jessica:

I never thought I’ll be in school again.

 

Ashley:

I never want to be in school again after what happened the last time.

 

Jessica:

What happened?

 

Ashley:

Things that lead up to more things which I really don’t want to talk about.

 

Jessica gives her a look. Ashley closes the door and starts walking.

 

INT. Principal Skinner’s Office

 

Lucas is sitting in Principal’s office in front of Skinner as the principal looks at his transfer paper. Lucas is looking out the window.

Skinner:

So you were home schooled for years and now you want to go to an school?

 

Lucas:

My guidance thinks it would improve my social skills.

 

 

Skinner:

She is right, but according to your transcript I’ll have to put in advance classes and make you a senior.

 

Lucas:

Can I just take the advance classes? I really don’t want to be senior before other people my age.

 

Skinner:

Okay, but for my personal opinion I think you should transfer to one of Ivy League school. What your grades you will be able to get into any college you want.

(passes him his schedule)

 

Lucas:

Thank you.

(takes the schedule and walks out)

 

Lucas exits from the room and finds Edwin waiting for him. Edwin gets up from his seat.

Edwin:

So what did they give you?

 

Lucas:

I have all advance classes.

 

They walk out of the room into the hallway. Amanda turns the corner and notices Lucas walking to her. Both were about to say something when out of nowhere Marcus walks up.

 

Marcus:

Hey you.

 

Lucas walks by without saying a word.

 

Amanda:

Hey, what’s up?

 

Marcus:

Did you hear? Our English Mr. Kessler was found dead at the parking lot.

 

Amanda:

Wow, how did he die?

 

Marcus:

He drowned on land. Some say it was a mutant.

Amanda looks little upset as they starts walking to class.

Amanda:

So we have a murderer in our little town.

 

Marcus:

Yeah, and it’s a mutant which makes it a lot more interest.

 

Amanda:

My parents are going to flip when they find out there are mutants in town.

 

Marcus:

Don’t tell me your parents has a mutant phobia like mine

 

Amanda:

No, they don’t mind mutants that much. It just weird that some mutants have to power to kill people without even them knowing it.

 

Marcus:

Are you talking about that boy in Oregon who drained the life out of everyone in his school?

 

Amanda:

Yeah, he was 7 years old and he killed 300 people in a blink of an eye.

 

Marcus:

What you think we should put them all into camp?

 

Amanda:

I don’t know what we should do with them, but they just scare me.

 

They reach the classroom door and Marcus opens it up for her. Amanda walks into the classroom.

 

Marcus:

I don’t know have a mutant around her might spice things up. It can get mad boring living in a small town.

 

Then he closes the door behind them.

 

 EXT. Daceys’ family home

 

Matt Dacey was sitting in the dining room drinking some beer when water starts coming out of his sink. Matt doesn’t hear anything as he keeps drinking his beer. The water drops to the floor and begins heading toward Matt.

 

Matt:

I know it’s you, mutant. I’m not afraid to die.

 

 

The puddle starts moving as it starts reform in a teen girl. She walked behind him not saying a word.

 

Matt:

Once I heard Kessler had be killed I knew it was you looking for revenge. He deserved to die and so do the rest of us.

(he takes another drink of beer)

Been I dying since that damn day at court. I should have listened to my gut. I know this won’t change anything, but I’m sorry.

 

The girl walks in front of him still not saying a word. She placed her hand on his shoulder and turned back to water. It ran up his shirt into his nose and mouth. He didn’t fight or scream. He sits there completely relax and at peace. Once he stops breaths the girl turns her whole body into water and goes back into the sink.

 

Scene fades into darkness

wow what a turn around at the start narmal and the end wow very good write

Interesting write.. The concept is good and can definitely grow. I thought the beginning was a little abstract. Didn't really add or take away from the crux of the story. Could just be the way i read it though.
