Fruit From The Garden of Eden

Fruit From The Garden of Eden

A Poem by Aris

In the land of gods and monsters
Betrayal was merely a part of human nature,
Deceit was but a burried hatchet dug up and reburied in the backs of those who percieved us as loyal.

No remorse.
No empathy.
No sincerity.

Screams were laughter and laughter became plentiful
No batted eyelids
Just tears of nothingness ran from our dry eyes

Vengeance was a brother, father, mother, lover
For all to see as it was carried around
Faces full of glee.

Disappointment, oh disappointment the most poisonous of all
Was but a seed implanted in the minds of the youth.

All of these were but fruit on a youthful tree that has lived beyond its years.
I'm sorry Adam, I ate the apple.
