Chapter Five:
Note: That was so corny, I love it! Adding the character of SG, a mutual acquaintance of both NR and MA. Please enjoy the next section. A lot of s**t happens. It gets pretty dark. :) January 7: (SG 8:46 am) "Hey girl hey. How's everything going?" (NR 8:57 am) "Pretty good considering I'm, you know, in the hospital." (SG 9:01 am) "Yeah, that's a bummer. Anyways, I was wondering if maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee you could lend me a few buckssss...?" (NR 9:04 am) "How about hell no." (SG 9:07 am) "Okay, but consider this: you're a b***h." (NR 9:08 am) "If by b***h, you mean: strong, independent woman who asserts herself, than hell yeah, I'm a b***h!" (NR 9:11 am) "I'm a b***h and PROUD." (SG 9:15 am) "This is why no one likes youuuuuuuuuuu!" (NR 9:17 am) "Oh, I assure you there are better reasons than that." (SG 9:20 am) "Kindly go f**k yourself." (NR 9:22 am) "Is that a compliment? That sounds like a compliment, like saying 'Hey, you did a good job today. So go f**k yourself as a reward.'" (NR 9:30 am) "Ah, yes. Silence is the sweetest defeat." (SG 9:32 am) "Hey girl hey, how are you going?" (MA 9:36 am) "Pretty good, for once, actually. You?" (SG 9:40 am) "I'm so good. Listen, I was wondering if maybe you could help me out by giving me a few bucks...?" (MA 9:42 am) "If you're so 'good', why do you need money?" (SG 9:45 am) "You can never have too much money." (MA 9:48 am) "I think you can. You, specifically." (SG 9:55 am) "Allow me to phrase this as gently as possible. Give me the money you owe me from Tuesday, or I will personally come to your house and break you." (SG 10:01 am) "Do you think I'm f*****g joking? It would make me day to kick you right in the face. Give. Me. The. Money. Or. I. Will. Break. You." (MA 10:03 am) "Tell me, will you get your money back when I'm dead? No. Not likely my corpse is stuffed with cold, hard cash. Do you want to know what a good friend of mine told me? They told me the that being broken isn't a bad thing, and is nothing to be ashamed of. It's the people that break other people that have something to be ashamed of." (MA 10:05 am) "You." (MA 10:06 am) "Disgust." (MA 10:08 am) "Me." (SG 10:30 am) "Remind me again: The house that you sleep in smells like piss, and all it takes is one good kick for it to fall over, right? Oh, or is that you I'm think of?" (SG 10:38 am) "I personally don't find any honor in hiding like a rat. Give me the money or else. Don't insult me by wasting my time!" (SG 10:42 am) "Awfully dark in here! Clever move, turning all the lights off. Pity it's daytime and there's, you know, windows." (SG 10:43 am) "Hide and go seek is my favorite game, although there's usually a lot more fire involved when I play." (SG 10:44 am) "I always wiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn." (SG 10:45 am) "Squeaky doors, squeaky doors. I don't have to have super hearing to know where you are." (SG 10:47 am) "Iiiiiiiii fooouuuuunnnnnnndddddddd yyyyyoooouuuuuu." (MA 11:23 am) "call me" (NR 11:29 am) "What? Is everything okay?" (MA 11:33 am) "CaLl ME" Ring ring. (NR) "Are you okay" (MA) "Ffffffffffuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkkkkkk." (NR) "Are you okay? Tell me, are you okay?" (MA) "No." (NR) "Okay, that's good " well, no, it's not. Just keep talking to me; I'm right here with you. What happened?" (MA) "I " I got in a fight " though not really in a fight. Mostly, she just kicked me in the face while I lied on the floor and died a little, but... yeah... a fight... maybe..." (NA) "Oh my god. Are you badly hurt?" (MA) "I may have a slight concussion, although it's difficult to tell because the room won't stop spinning..." (NA) "We should call an ambulance "" (MA) "NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. NOT A GOOD IDEA. Maybe just... Google what to do when someone has a concussion? Oh, wait, you're in a hospital, can you just ask one of the nursey people?" (NR) "Yeah, I'm calling one right now to ask her." (NR) *muffled* "Oh, hey there Clark... I'm writing a... a story where the main character gets a concussion and... I need to know what kind of treatment they would receive... to fix themselves... if they didn't go to the hospital?" (NR) "Yeah, he says we should call an ambulance, so that's what we probably should do. You still there?" (MA) "Mmmmmmmffffffff... I'm going to throw up." (NR) "That's normal, sadly. Where are you?" (MA) "I don't remember." (NR) "Think!" (MA) ... (NR) "Say something, d****t!" (MA) "I..." (NR) "You have to remember where you are!' (MA) "1... West... 158 West Carvel St. in that creepy old house that looks like it's made of bricks. I'm on, like, the 3rd floor, I think... in one of the bedrooms... there's a lot of blood..." (NR) "I'm going to call the ambulance. I have to hang up now but I'll call you right back." (MA) "NO " DON'T!" (NR) "See, I'm back now! Everything's okay! I promise!" (MA) "I missed you..." (NR) "I missed you too." (MA) "I hear sirens." (NR) "That's a good sign." (MA) "This reminds me of... middle school... getting the crap kicked out of me..." (NR) "That's not going to happen " not ever again. I promise. No one's ever going to hurt you again, not if I'm still alive. Hell, even if I'm dead! I'll haunt anyone's sorry a*s if they try to hurt you." (MA) "That's what I love about you." (MA) "You're always so... You." (MA) "Good news, they're here. Bad news, I'm just barely... here..." (MA) "Are you going to be there waiting for me?" (NR) "Where?" (MA) "Anywhere. Everywhere. Nowhere. Here and there." (NR) "Yeah. I'll be there. I'll always be there." (MA) "O... Thanks... The paramedic guy has to take my phone now..." (NR) "Okay, that's good. I'll be here at the hospital waiting for you when you get here." (NR) *drops phone; muffled* "Margery, you need to let me out of isolation and go down to the emergency room with me. One of my friends is in trouble." (NR) "I'm not lying! One of my friends got beat up and is coming to the emergency room. PLEASE go down there with me so I can see her." (NR) "I understand that I'm not supposed to go down unless it's to the gift shop; so consider this my trip to the gift shop." (NR) "Yeah, I understand the doctors are 'capable', but I can also help her. Please, please, let me go down." (NR) "No, you don't understand! Please, Margery, please " she needs me." (NR) "Yes, I also need her." (NR) "Yes, we have been texting. She does exist, see?" (NR) "Moth. Her name's Moth. I don't remember her real name, but she goes by Moth." (NR) "Thanks. Good, you better go call the front desk" OH, I'LL JUST WAIT HERE THEN WHILE YOU GO OVER THERE?" (NR) "What do you mean she wasn't admitted? What other hospitals are there? There aren't any other hospitals?" (NR) "I don't believe you. She must've come in, just under a different name or something. There has to be a mistake at the front desk!" (NR) "I'll call her again." Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring. (MA) "..." (NR) "Are you there?" (MA) "Mmmmmhhhhh..." (NR) "Where are you? (MA) "Never left..." (NR) "You lied about where you where you were, right? I called an ambulance for no reason." (MA) "Relax, I've had a concussion before. I can manage." (NR) "You little s**t... As long as you're okay... Are you okay?" (MA) "Always." (NR) "Don't fall asleep. Falling asleep when you have a concussion is very bad." (MA) "Thank god you're so interesting, otherwise I might be tempted to just die..." (NR) "Who did that to you? We should call the police and file a report against them or something?" (MA) "Yeah, they'd love the part when I'm squatting in an abandoned house, plus some... other things that probably wouldn't go over very well with them." (NR) "Oh, god, what?" (MA) "So, anyways, the person that attacked me. You know that complete wanker at school Sasha Greyson?" (NR) "Sasha? I only know a Sadie." (MA) "Yeah, that might be her name. Can't remember. She's an a*s anyway you slice it, though, let me tell you. And being on the track team's really paying off for her 'cause she got here in a hurry, and she doesn't have a car... Wow..." (NR) "She hit me up asking for money about 9 tonight, and when I refused, she got super aggressive. Did she ask you for money?" (MA) "Yep. The only difference was that I actually owed her something..." (NR) "I'm not even going to ask what. Your business is your business. Just make sure she stays the hell away from you. Do you have any other injuries?" (MA) "The bleeding on my head has stopped. It was actually just a little, but everything got smeared around, so it looks like a horror movie. Might have sprained my arm when she grabbed it. It hurts a lot. She had a knife, and I thought she was going to cut me, but she just ended up cutting most of my hair off. It's just little patches of bald and chunks now." (NR) "You don't have any hair?" (MA) "Well, some. Not none... I can feel it, all fuzzy like a peach. It feels nice." (NR) "If it makes you feel any better... I'm loosing my hair too." (MA) "Really? That doesn't make me feel any better." (NR) "I hope it does, actually. We can grow it back together." (MA) "Think of all the cute little peach fuzzy possibilities we can have. I'm starting to think there's an upside to this after all." (MA) "Can you sing?" (NR) "I can physically do the song, but the sound is less than pleasant. I do love singing, though no one really cares for it. Just proves you don't have to be good at something to like it "" (MA) "And you don't have to like something to be good at it." (NR) "I like you..." (MA) "Are you good at me?" (NR) "We'll see..." (MA) "Ha! Sing me a lullaby that keeps me away. Keeps me from going quietly into the night. Keeps me here with you. Keeps me from slipping into a dark, dank crack in the universe from I fear I will never emerge." (NR) "Okay... Um... 'You are my sunshine... My only sunshine... You make me happy, when skies are grey... You'll never know, dear... How much I.. Love you... Please don't take my sunshine away...'" © 2014 Natalie MarkAuthor's Note
