A Fathers Wish

 

So it seems the time has come

For you to see the world and move on

Like any parent I know it must be

For that day too came for me

 

I wish you all the best that there is in life

And I’m glad you found someone to make your wife

I hope you two find that special bliss

Always end each day with a kiss

 

I’ll miss our visits when you were so close by

I took it for granted and I’ll always ask why

You’ve grown up my little boy blue

I’ve been so truly blessed to have had you

 

I’m proud you’ve chosen to serve this nation

It’s a noble and honorable vocation

Use your head and keep it down

If the s**t gets heavy in some foreign town

 

May the paths in life lead you to the gold

With few regrets looking back when you’re old

I wish all of this and more for you son

With all of my love, long may you run
