Summer LoveA Poem by Loren R LoveA short poem about lost teenage loveSUMMER LOVE The moon came up
again, like it did that night When we walked hand
in hand, in the pale light. I held tight, never
wanting to let go We laughed and kissed
and I read Thoreau Footprints in sand,
disappeared in the dark Forever we proclaimed
carved in tree bark I went back to see if
we were still there Our tree was gone
with no trace of us there In the race of youth,
summer love draws in We detour to explore,
dabble in sin Affairs of the heart,
pumping hard and fast We think we know, but
alas it can’t last I have carried them
with me, to this day © 2013 Loren R Love |
