'I Love You'

You said you loved me to my face.

As I looked at you I knew it was true.

I also knew you were hoping I would say it back.

But I can't. I don't know how anymore.

The people I've said it to have all left me.

I'm worried that if I say it to you that you would also leave me.

So by not saying 'I Love You' it means that I love you so much I couldn't bear to see you walk away.

I wrote this the first night that my first boyfriend told me that he loved me to my face. I didn't know what to do and I knew I hurt him when I didn't say it back. Hope you like it.
