Do you see.....?

"Have you ever been able to see my pain and suffering? Have you ever cared?"

You see me in flesh and blood-

yet your eyes don’t catch what I hide.

You see my smiles and hear my laughs,

yet you are unable to hear my cries.

You feel my happiness,

but yet you can’t feel my sorrow and depression.

You see what is on the surface,

but your keen sight doesn’t dive underneath.

You see what you want,  but not what is this.

The lines that “line” my wrist-

you don’t see them,

but I know the secret behind them.

I was to weak, unable to go to you.

You are the reason that these scars are here,

you are the reason why I don’t share my feelings.

I hate this life, and sometimes..

sometimes I wish for a new one.

But even then,

I could never actually pull it off.

Do you see.......any of this?

Author's Note

This is a poem that is written for a character I use in a rp named Andy. He is a 16/17 year old boy who suffers from self-harm. Since he was a boy of ten years old, he had lost his Dad, who a member of the Army. His mom is a worker at the State Pen. He lives with his older sister and his younger sister. He began to self-harm at the age of fourteen when he became to depressed to even want to live. It was two years later with the help of his friend, and his girlfriend that he was able to stop self-harming. Now he still suffers from minor depression, and has times where the effort he put into stopping the self-harm crumbles and he nearly does it again. This is a poem that he would have written when he was in the hospital after an attempt to cut went to far.
