White Linen and Black LaceA Poem by Bethany WoodyContradictions in personalities that make people who they are.
White linen and black lace
Hidden together in an embrace
Inside my soul
Tightly held whole
Encapsulating all of me.
Lips whisper softly
Intoning ardently
Never think you know
Everything of my tidal flow
Never turn your back on me.
An emotional melting pot
Needing cold, needing hot
Danger and safety.
Behold my devotion unwavering
Love all consuming
Always there with a shoulder
Cry your tears bolder
Keep trust in me.
Look now behind my white mask
And see my other side bask
Close to the black
Edge of the pack.
